Anyone effected by this? From what I gather they are spinning off and making PM International and Altria. Ths move might make them exempt from lawsuits. Still doing research but wondering others viewpoints.

I do own this stock but have not read to much on the split or how it will change thing. I'm guessing it will work out the same way it did when they spun kft off.

Just got a letter that says for every share of Altria you own you will recieve one share of PMI. The value of each will be determined at the end of the spinoff day. March 28th

Morris I believe the main reason for the spinoff is they believe that the international division can trade at a higher premium by it self.

The domestic operations face a decline in smokers, as smokers as a percentage of the population slowly declines. this is in contrast to the growth in the international side, where smoking in many countries is on the increase.

though there will be a some lawsuits believe the domestic will have a higher yield, (div), and be valued somewhat like a utility. good income however little growth.

the int. unit will have high growth rates, at least going forward for 5 years. the int. division will also face lawsuits and increased taxes (mainly by the governments) however this is in the future. 5-10 years down the road.

thanks

Thanks selkirk. I'm trying to find out as much info as I can. Not too much out there right now. The letter implied that the dollar value wouldn't be even and more like a 60-40 split. PMI would be the higher valued.
