in big games. Thinking back he just doe'snt seem to make plays when he has to. I think he is decent but tonight like in 2000 when they lost at home to Baltimore, he just seems to make some stupid decisions at times. Tonight I tought he settled for the dump off pass over the middle a lot. In retrospect he could of at least won a couple of superbowls with a couple of decent games. Just wondering what others thoughts are????

I tend to say NO!! It's pretty well-documented that he plays through injuries that only McNair and Favre would play through. Supporting cast on offense is not exactly a bunch of world-beaters.

Just my two cents, but I can't say anything negative about McNair. If you want to find the pivotal play in tonight's game, I'd have to say the blocked field goal. Also, they aren't exactly doling out Super Bowl rings to every Tom, Dick, and Harry.

McNair is a warrior and a true NFL player....he hasn't won the big one (i blame that on Kevin Dyson who crumpled at the 1yd line instead of making a move against London Fletcher), but his team plays well every year, the guy hasn't been healthy but still goes out and gets it done, my only problem is his decision making at times....last night with teh delay of games, the intentional grounding, the ball he threw to Bennett (spectacular catch but three defenders right on top of him, no business throwing that ball)....in the end, not everyone can win a superbowl and I'm not sure how many more shots he has

not a shot at you....i know yesterday`s game frustrated alot of people.......but mcnair?....is about as good as it gets.....he may have come one dropped pass away from beating the "mighty " pats on their home field....

george is an average back....was very good earlier in his career....now,i`d venture to say, that he`s more a hindrance than a help....the receivers are servicable....but nothing special.....wycheck has become almost a non-entity after multiple concussions...

mcnair is the real deal......don`t understand how you can see it any different...

I have to add my sentiments that I agree that McNair is the reason the Titans went as far as they went. The Titans have a great coach and QB but not much else. He played a good game last night against what is the hardest defense in football for a QB to figure out.

He is a QB that every team would love to have, hell I would love him to be on Miami's team, but 3 delay of game penalties last night is uncalled for. He almost had a dazed look to him like whatever they shot his leg up with made him a little loopy

No one agrees outside the KKK

No one agrees outside the KKK

Ridiculous. He's the best QB in the league, played his ass off yesterday, plays if he can walk, through all sorts of injuries.Throws beautifully, accurately, runs hard and fast, knows how to READ defenses. It is hard to figure what more you'd want him to do.I've seen him make plays this year no other qb in the league could make(vick's not experienced enough yet.)

I was'nt saying the guy was'nt a good qb ...............I just wanted to bring to question up to see what you guys thought.........I guess a lot of you just dont remember far back enough......

Last Year championship game against Oakland he didnt really play all that well......

Last Night he did'nt really impress me that much........I thought Brady made some plays that he did'nt..........

The championship game they lost to Baltimore he really struggled.........look it up if you want...........

The SB against the Rams he struggled bad for 3 plus quarters till he woke up in the fourth......look it up also............

Now that being sad............he may be the only thing Tenn has and he may be one of the top 5 qbs in the league but in some of these big games it seems to me he has'nt played as well as he has during the year. I also agree in some big games to get the Titans to the next game he has played well.......in 1999 he beat Jax at Jax with a masterful performance............

Yes you are the only one. quite possibly the dumbest statement I have ever seen posted on Madjacks. Just my opinion.

And you idiot..txag.........have not been reading enough posts if you think that was the dumbest.......there are a lot dumber people posting here than me......Just wake up and look.......

mcnair underachieves , the guy had 50 percent of his health and look what he did on road against the ravens and the titans could ot tied that game up if that holding call was not called with mcnair at the helm the titans always have the chance to win games and that what you want in your qb he's a warrior and proven winner in my books

i guess im in the minority, but i dont think hes a top 5 quarterback in the league

i dont think he underachieves per se -- thats being a little unfair.

toughest quarterback in the league? probably

best (or a top 5 qb)? im not gonna go that far

thats just my honest opinion. i love his toughness but i dont think hes a truly elite qb.

edit: wording made my comment appear to be an indictment of mcnair. its not. id say hes exactly the 5th best qb in the league .

no way 5

no way 5

the only guys that you can even make an argument for are favre......brady....manning....mcnabb......

you can`t say vick....not after 1.5 years...that`s absurd....

manning, mcnabb, and favre all have better supporting casts(i e running games).......he`s more mobile than 3 of these guys....and as good a leader as any of `em(imo)....

even if someone capitulates and say #5,that`s still a superior qb.....

i rate him as #2......maybe 3 at worst.......he`s better than favre right now(even though favre`s been hot,he throws to many picks)......

i wonder if we`d be hearing this stuff if bennett hadn`t dropped the pass yesterday....

i`m surprised that gman would say that after seeing mcnair vs cleveland all these years....cleveland`s got garbage at qb....much like my ravens....

i love mcnair...always have....wish we had him in b`more...

jmo.....

ncnair is overachieving. when he came out of college to the oilers he didnt have much knowledge of football. he's come a long way and makes better decisions than he did back then. the guy plays hurt all the time and gives it his all. last nite wasnt his fault, they just got beat by a good team at home.

you get no argument there. :) never said i wouldnt like to have him on my team.

my main problem is when people refer to steve mcnair as the best player in football

the media and general observers say that from time to time

thats where i say "no way"

but you did bring up a good point weasel- top 5 is still elite no matter if hes 3/4/5/6. good point.

i just dont buy the "best qb in football" or "best player in the nfl" talk.

(but like you said, sure wouldnt mind seeing him in baltimore or cleveland)

also, when they played the browns twice a year, he was still finding his way as a qb and george was dominant. so perhaps im still basing some of my opinion on a few yrs ago

always enjoy goin back and forth with you weasel. you know your stuff.

Wrong Mc. You meant McNabb is an underachiever, not McNair.

Of course, by saying that, I will probably now be flamed.

McNair, when he goes down in defeat, performs well, is gutsy, or does something special anyway. He is worthy of that MVP (and has always been under-rated).

McNabb, when he goes down in defeat, does none of the above.

If he doesn't kick it into gear in the 2nd half, his team will be out of the playoffs yet again.

Though I don't consider McNabb a top 3 QB or anything like that, I still don't think he is overrated. Considering he's never had a consistent running game to rely on, never had anything more than a pedestrian receiving corps, and the offense he runs is primarily composed of 5 yard pass plays, he's had a decent career.
