?They?d be there for one of ours,? Constable Mitchell said on Sunday.
Outside the Aievoli Funeral Home in southern Brooklyn on Sunday, row upon row of New York Police Department officers created, for the second time in as many weeks, a steady and silent show of strength. But four long blocks away, the solid sea of blue gave way to eddies and tidal pools of different hues, among them gray and black and tan, and also coats of leather; a jumble of uniforms from many different police departments, sheriff?s offices and law enforcement agencies large and small.

it struck a cord w/me this morning..even more so than the day these men were murder..

We Americans have finally learned as a whole to really appreciate what all those who serve in our Armed Forces do....But I think we lose sight of what police officers do ..

Truth of the matter is that when our lives are in danger here on American soil these are the folks who respond...Just like those who serve to protect us in the Armed Forces these officers put there lives on the line as well.

Listed below are various accounts of the murders and the funerals for the two men murdered in the line of duty

I believe I read that law enforcement isn't even in the top 10 of most dangerous jobs in America.
Construction workers, loggers, roofer, taxi cab drivers, firefighters are all putting their lives on the line with greater regularity for us than police officers are.
Those jobs just don't get front page articles when a fatality strikes.

This doesn't change a damn thing about the two lives that were lost here, but sometimes it's helpful to keep a little perspective. The way the news media presents a story tends to be how the majority of people think about a subject. Unfortunately the narrative created by the media usually results in stories being told only because they will sell more advertising than another story.

Details left out, or stories not told really demonstrates the power the media has over our lives and how we think about the world.

The perspective is, these two men were assassinated for one reason: They were cops.
