The right swallowed the oil industry?s story for more than 20 years vilifying environmentalists as ?tree huggers.? Even now, with every single industrial nation and the oil industry itself working feverishly on alternatives to co2 emitting fossil fuels, lots of ?em refuse to admit they?ve been lied to and duped on global warming. Like big oil, the health insurance industry with 12 billion in profits for 2007, up from two billion in 2000, has the resources to spew propaganda 24/7, assuring confusion and chaos to even a greater extent than during the global warming battles. At the same time that monthly premiums have skyrocketed, better and slicker methods for denying coverage has risen to the level of some kind of perverted art form. While personal incomes have fallen $300.00 per year the past ten years, insurance premiums have risen $800.00 Family budgets are stretched and broken by $500.00 + monthly insurance cost. Seventy per cent of all personal bankruptcies are caused by overwelming medical costs. Incredibly, marching to the beat of the insurers drum we witness this mind numbing vitriol of ignorance and hate trying to persuade there?s no need for health care reform. One can only imagine the ?copy and paste? avalanche of corporate propoganda had there been an internet when they lied to the public about cigarettes.
