someone needs to kick him in the ass and tell him to can the hot dog shit.

you catch the ball at eye level and away from body with 2 hands, not with glove tucked against body below arm pit to look cute, that would of been 2 runs, yes he is good but can't let the simple things like fielding turn into a fashion show or it will cost you.

my man jm is throwing good and doesnot need that. like i said last week this kid can throw and will be a top caliber pitcher this year and is in the nimber 4 spot don't think he will go past 6 7 tops but so far so good, was very hot at the end of spring. keep your eye on him win or lose he can pitch he is special and a hard no bs worker.

a few other things to watch that need to be corrected with the braves and they will but they are things that can help you if you are going to play them.

a.jones need to stay firm on his front side against the breaking ball,he is letting front shoulder fly even if he does make contact it won't go anywhere,i would throw him off speed away till he shows me he is going to stay firm on the front side.

c.jones is boxing himself on the inside pitch from the left side he is not clearing his hips so his hands and arms can extend through the zone, have watched them a few times and in the spring this has been an on going thing with both of them.

just a few things i picked up thought i would pass them along and give you some tips what to look for from guys when the hit, trust me the opp catcher sees it. and you can do this with all games and that will show you if the hitter is still cold.

if you see the hitters get good hip rotation and bring the hands to the ball your hitter is starting to get in their zone.

more scouting 101 on fri.

also if jm comes out for the 7th he will be gone if a guy gets on i think,he can't lose and you want to build on confidence, perfect set up by shutting him down, also he isnot getting swing leg through as much starting to drag behind and that is a sure sign that a pitcher is getting tierd, legs go before arm, after that arm will start to drag and elbow drop making him push the ball and it being high and flat.

back fri on what ever game i break down.

now if you just saw those 2 hr a.jones got a fb middle in why i don't know but shoulder stayed firm and hips brought hands through the zone ,but why trhow him a fb,mistake on who ever is calling pitches.

c.jones got a tumbling breaking ball just spun and stayed high cleared hips and got full extenson hands and hips were not locked up.question again why not throw in again had not been able to clear all game try to throw breaking ball to left handed batter back knee and in if you are going to throw a breaking ball that is where a lefty gets tied up, maybe phills just want to get out of town and just threw away the pitching chart and book.

great game to pick things up as you watch. and this will help you out throughout the year the more you can pick up the better you can handicapp, you will see who is struggling and why and if guys are worn down hurt ect, when something is wrong it will always show in mechanics even the slightest flaw will effect preformence.

thanks for this.....although it doens't help me handicap much, i am a very active baseball observer......favorite sport to watch is golf and secondly baseball.....i can't pick up on baseball as much due to inexperience in it, but can pick up stuff like this in golf and knowing this stuff makes it all the more enjoyable to see.....

got tests this week, but am gonna go see a 3 day stand against the Cards this weekend.....i really love seeing a complete series as opposed to a bunch of games here and there cuz it is easier for me to see more of what is going on and to learn more about the game as i can learn to watch what managers and players and am able to notice myself who is pressing, how they adapt throughtout the series, etc......

same thing goes in golf....sitting there watching the same hole all day is boring.....much better to follow a guy in his hole round to see how he handles stuff....

Jones has always bothered me with his ridiculous effort to create style instead of efficiency. I would like to hear the reaction if he dropped one with Maddux or Glavine on the mound. He isn't the only one in the league anymore that does it. Like to see somebody dump one like that with Schilling on the rubber.

fletch,

i forgot which game, but a jones turned a single into a 3 rbi triple last year... still he's tough out there most of the time.. you know his old man ran a 6.7 and he ran a 6.4 when they worked him out -- nobody else was around to run against him so his dad volunteered.
remember the phils wearing out a jones with the high fb late last year? he looked brutal. haven't seen chipper much but tons of guys i've seen are into that box thing and not getting extended. plus a lot of guys now have terrible extension through contact -- and it's only with 'good' hitters or guys who are overcoached. never with the raw hitter. they're so worried about staying inside the ball and getting there quick that they rush through contact and either tie themselves up or go from down to the ball to a high follow with nothing inbetween.

doc freeze.... realize that players tendencies probably change every 10 days or two weeks easily, so try not to get caught up on what you saw in a particular game becuase its always constant adjusting.
