First off congrats to all the TB backers and good luck against the raiders. They by far were the better team and it seemed to me they just wanted it more.

A day later and I am still finding it hard to explain how bad Philly actually looked yesterday..........I cant remember a championship home team playing so poorly in every area of the game. You name it they sucked at every area except maybe kickoff returns. With the exception of the opening kickoff the eagles did absolutely nothing on offense and defense........someone on another post stated.....".On the opposite side of the ball you gotta wonder what juice Andy Reid was on before/ during the game. I've never seen such a flat bunch of players and as for some of the calls "..........

Isnt that the truth........didnt Reid realize that the only way for TB to attack was through short slant routes.........this would accomplish 2 things........neutralized the Phiily pass rush because Johnson would be getting rid of the ball quicker and making it so Johnson would not have to move if at all in the pocket. Surely gruden wasnt going to let his immoble QB sit in the pocket that long............

Maybe I just overestimated the Eagles and maybe they arent that good of a team to begin with, but I still cant believe how bad they performed in such a big game.

Very Good post. I think Philly believed all the experts that Tampa had no shot in Philly and all they had to do was show up. Philly should have tried harder to run the ball up the gut. They played right into our strength. Pass Defense. They did not watch any films on how Brad J was getting the feerl of the west coast thing. They like everyone else thiught it was the same old bucs.

I was at the game and the Eagles had everything going for them. A quick score, the Vet seemed like it was going to start to collapse right when Duce scored.
As soon a I saw Brad Johnson come out in the no-huddle, I leaned over to my buddy and said Gruden scares me. Dungy's teams would have quit right when Mitchell returned the opening kick-off.

Gruden out-coached Reid and his staff tremendously. The Eagles played conservatively and scared. How many times did Mcnabb throw deep just to spread the defense out alittle? These little dinks and dunks just don't cut it. How about when Taylor intercepts the Johnson's pass and the Eagles decide to pooch punt. Why not go for the first. You get the first and crowd and Gruden know you mean business. The Bucs played balls to the walls and the Eagles played like crap. It seemed like McNabb was scared to run and after his fumbles he was extremely tentative.

This was a golden opportunity and its sad to say but I think the Eagles window to win in the next couple of years has closed. Douglas and Barber will get more money on the open market and they need a middle linebacker, tight end & number 1 WR. There schedule is scary tough next year. Take the under in Eagle victories next year. I guess I am just a depressed livelong eagles fan. When do we finally win a big game in this town?

THERE ARE MOMENTS IN A GAMES THAT TELL YOU WHEN YOU ARE BEAT:

I knew the EAGLES were toast when I saw the last series of the first half. Talk about horrendous game preparation:

1:20 left in the half, Eagles driving down the field, Bucs ahead 17-10. A TD would sure be nice. A FG is almost mandatory at this stage of the game considering how bad Philadephia's defense has played. Eagles wide receiver clearly catches a pass that comes close to hitting the ground. While the rest of the free world knows this is a catch, the clueless bumblephuck officials have to STOP the game for THREE FULL MINUTES to "review" this obvious completion.

Here's where I knew the Eagles were dead.

Instead of the Eagles offense huddling up, planning strategy -- instead they are standing around with thier hands on their hips light it's a casual Sunday afternoon.

After dipchit officials FINALLY resume play, Eagles are back in the huddle.

1:10 on the clock and the Eagles run Staley up the middle for a gain of 6 yards.

Clock ticking.

Clock ticking.

Down to 45 seconds.

I nearly dove for the TV set when I saw the EAGLES HUDDLING UP!!!!! What the phuck was that????

Could they NOT have called TWO PLAYS in the huddle, knowing they were running the ball on the first down? No, they run a play, then huddle and burn 30 seconds off the clock. More important, THEY ALLOW THE BUCS DEFENSE TO RE-SET THEMSELVES.

36 seconds left. QB McNabb goes back to pass and fumbles. Bucs recover. Series over.

Eagles are never a serious threat to take the lead after that critical series.

How can a home team in the NFL Championship game NOT have two plays called at that stage of the game?

I lost a tremendous amount of respect for the Eagles coaching staff, and McNabb based on that series alone. Astoundingly bad football strategy.

Some good posts here. I, too, felt that Andy was one helluva coach. Admittedly, I hadn't seen the eagles play a lot; but to lose McNabb and still play as well as they did, I gave Reid all the props. But what a coaching mismatch this turned out to be. This was a flat team, unprepared to say the least. Nolan's comments on the end of the half are right on. Tampa Bay played a great game and I am not taking away anything from them. I doubt the Eagles would have beat them under any circumstances. But it was utterly disappointing to see how Tampa literally toyed with them. If you can't get fired up for the Conference final, especially after scoring first within a minute, something is wrong. Maybe the eagle players could see that Tampa was dominating them and reacted accordingly.

Nolan............What about being tied 10-10 with TB on the Philly 10 yrd line 3rd and goal and you have 2 defenders playing behind Keyshawn Johnson.............WTF kind of defense was that........

Eagles gave this one away......is there any pastures up there around Philly ?.........cause that's where they need to put Andy Reid out to.........Bucs came out on top but I don't think they really won it.......seriously doubt if they find the Raiders quite as generous

Statman I will cover any of your action. Tampa was flat out the better team. So I guess what you're saying is that on a nice sunny day in San Diego the Bucs will have a harder time moving the ball against the Raiders than they did against the Eagles in Icy Philly? I think not.

...you could say the same about the titans. two fumbles and 10 points in the last 90 or less seconds??? ...both of 'em gave it away. :nooo:

DISCLAIMER: This comes from a Philly fan living in Nashville.

THE BUCS OUTPLAYED THE EAGLES IN THEIR HOUSE AND SHUT THOSE PHILLY FANS UP.... ALL THAT TRASH TALKING AND NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT.... Looks like Philly peaked too soon. Watching the regular season game against the Giants, they were getting blown off the line of scrimmage. If it wasn't for the 3 red zone turnovers, the Giants would've blown them out. Against Atlanta they were facing a team in its 3rd straight road game, who probably letdown after the upset win in Lambeau. The game against Tampa kind of reminded me of the USC/Iowa game when Iowa ran the opening kick back but after that it was all USC.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!

The NFL is the only league where you can be Coach of the Year and a f----ing genious... and lose one game ( albeit a very important game), and you're ready for the pasture. How can anyone think this is accurate. By my log on you can tell who my team is, but I don't care who you pull for, Reid is still a great coach and once again proved no one is perfect.

All you Reid bashers...GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!! GET OVER IT!!

BTW. I had my money on the Eagles as well but you don't condemn a coach for one game.
