Hi guys. First of all I just wanna say I have been living in the Philippines for past two years. I can't call myself Journey fan but I really like their biggest hits. Great music and in general I love the rock classics from the 80's. Recently I watched some documentary about Arnel Pineda and how he became the Journey vocalist. Pretty amazing story and it gets even more meaning if you ever been to Philippines and see where Arnel grew up and his Journey from poverty to becoming lead vocalist of one of the biggest rock bands. I wanna ask all of those who like Journey what you think about Pineda. I know that Steve Perry was one of a kind and it's impossible to replace him but how do you see Pineda as his replacement. As Journey fan would you still go to the concert or you lost the interest once Perry left?

I think Journey is the type of band that most people are embarrassed to admit liking. Not sure why.

Without even watching the video you posted, I bet growing up singing karaoke is part of it. :popcorn2

Hey Snoopol,

Good to see you back posting again buddy. How's the Philippines? Never been there, but I bet they have some really nice spots. To answer your question, I like Journey but they aren't one of my favorites.

They're like a lot of other bands in that some of their earlier stuff actually had some merit. Then they sold out and became boring corporate rock whores.

On the course!
That band was awesome!

They most certainly could rock, but their biggest hits were the backseat ballads, and that's why some people think they were a bunch of pussies.

Neal Schon could play guitar as well as anyone else out there.

I was a fan of both the group and Neal as guitarist, I wish they would have had more songs written to suit his talents..... :0074

I definitely liked the amazing voice of Perry, so distinctual. Yeah, some top 40 type stuff, but for the most part, very good music indeed.

Thanks for answering.

Knefil I'm doing pretty good, thanks. Philippines are OK. Many beautiful islands with some amazing white beaches. I would recommend it to anyone but might be to far for Americans.:0008

I love Journey! I am however, pretty diverse on my music. Being 45, I am amazed at what I like!

On one of their big hits, "Who's Crying Now", Neal's solo was a little too harsh for the band. They reminded him that the song was a ballad, and the solo should be toned down a little.

As a joke, Schon played a very dull solo. The rest of the band thought it was PERFECT, and the "joke" solo was to become part a this famous hit:

without a doubt Schon one of the best guitarists of his era. Head and antlers above a lot of bands that people would consider "rock" bands.
