Got a Toshiba big screen. It's the older version, box. My inputs for dvd and cable box are all loose on the back of the set. I use to be able to jiggle them a bit and I would get video. Now nothing. Can these inputs on the set be fixed?

thanks in advance

upgrade to a flat screen, problem fixed

No doubt, Just did that in my living room. Have only had this thing 3 years and bought it new for $899. 3 years just seems to be to short of a lifetime for a tv.

They can be fixed easily IF the connection is lost to the back of the component plugs....

You will need to open it up and look.....

Since you say that you used to be able to jiggle the out/inputs and get a picture - that leads me to believe that the wires used to connect the video and audio plugs are loose and need to be re-soldered.

Hard to explain in words - but simply put.....open it up and look at the wires attached to the RCA component out.....

The wires will be connected (or loose) where the gold prongs are in the photo above.

i had a toshiba years ago and had the exact same problem...the nipple(cable input) on the back of the set was loose and i had to jiggle and eventually jam stuff against it to get contact...it eventually just stopped working....

never bought another toshiba....

must be a manufacturing defect....

get a sony, a panasonic or a mitsubishi....have an old 36" mitsubishi tube.... i was waiting for it to go up so i could get a flat screen...it never went up...i still have it....broke down and bought a flat screed about 3 years ago...
