Go to Mallory Square at sunset. All the freaks are there. Eat a lunch at O"s Fishwagon and have dinner at Louies Backyard.:0074 Take sea plane or boat trip to Dry Tortugas and check out the fort. Also tour Ernest Hemingways house.

It's been almost 30 years since I went there, so I probably can't be of help. I would consider visiting another key or two for a day, there are some interesting places to see along that bridge trip - maybe research that concept a bit? The sunsets there are amazing - it's like the sun is falling out of the sky, truly amazing picture opportunities. Definitely some cool places there to visit, but no idea what has changed or is still there now. It should be a lot of fun, and beautiful experiences to be had. I would definitely not rush the drive from Miami to Key West on that amazing bridge drive, though. Stop and smell the roses, and explore! Have fun... I'm jealous.

. . . unless that's the reason that you choose to go to Key West. . . and, in that case, make sure you use protection. Have fun Wilson!!!

BTB does live there and he helped me out. I would try ang get his contact information if you can. I did not get a chance to see him, but I believe he is about 1/2 the way from Lauderdale to Key West

One must see is the sunset on top of the highest building there. I can't remember the name and it is only 5 stories, but it is truely amazing.

Honestly duval street and the beach are your best bets. They have all the normal water stuff (ski-boats, fishing, etc). It is worth getting bikes to ride around. everything is close, and there is not a lot of room to park. Duval street is basically shopping by day and college party town by night.

I agree with Jaxx, not a lot to do there, unless you just want to relax by the water. Are you flying to Miami/Lauderdale and driving or flying straight into Key West? If you are not flying directly into KW, then try not travel in on a Friday or out on a Sunday.

Sunny Florida and Naptown
Me and the wife spent quite a bit of time there over the Summer.

You need to realize it is an island and it is small. Nothing is cheap and it can be congested at times.

Coming from the Pensacola area the beaches suck. But others will say different. We hung out at at Sloppy Joe's quite a bit. Not bad, but not great either. Live bands and drink specials daily.

To be honest once you get over the fact of being there it is just like any other bar town. Drunks, vacationers and loose thighs are everywhere. A single guy could bang a different chic every night if you know how to work the mojo.

Say what you want but me and the wife went to one of the Drag shows and had a really great time. I am sure the homophobes will tell you different. We were treated nice and the atmosphere was all about a party.

Tons of food everywhere with many price ranges. Ton's of art galleries if you enjoy that as well.

Parking is a premium and if you head down for the sunset at Mallory Square get there early. Avoid parking at the square it can be salty. I would suggest renting a scooter as mentioned above.

You need to be a water person to really enjoy Key West. I know we did and we lived on it when we could.

The La Concha Hotel is the tallest building I believe and they have a bar to watch the sunset. Usually crowded and you need to get there early. You can always take one of the sunset cruises as well. They also have the party boat which is nothing but a party.

Great place for snorkeling for sure. If you do anything on the water this is what I recommend. Some of most beautiful water around. There is a reef about 6 or 7 miles off shore as well. Key Largo IMO is best place to snorkel but Key West was awesome as well.

Everyone will have different opinions I am sure about Key West. But it is a party town. Me and my wife had a blast.

One thing for sure nothing beats the weather there. 80's in the days, 70's to mid 60's at night. Add in the ocean breeze and it is relaxing.

Been a long time since I been to the Keys

I would choose to live there if I could.

I remember eating at The Quay on Ismadora.

We had lunch and drinks. Watched the boats go by.

Watched the sunset a few times. Went to some kind of conservatorium. Drove all around. Alot of laid back people. No one in a rush. Differant lifestyle there.

Great place.
