Wondering if anyone's ever stayed in one of these over-water bungalows before

Personally, it's always been a dream of mine. The resorts people tend to think of are located in the South Pacific (Fiji, Bora Bora & French Polynesia) and the Maldives in the Indian Ocean. I've been exploring similar possible vacation spots in the Caribbean in Belize, Panama & Honduras. It doesn't seem to have the same pristine feel that the South Pacific resorts have, but I've seen some bungalows over the water for just under $300/night. Not too bad considering I've easily payed more than that for a room in Vegas on a weekend night. Just curious to know if somebody has stayed in a similar type place anywhere in the world and, if so, what the experience was like.
