Allen Iverson has been benched by coach Michael Curry and doesn't sound likely to play Friday due to a back injury.

Iverson is said to be OK with his benching, which makes Richard Hamilton the new starting shooting guard in Detroit. Iverson missed today's shootaround with the back injury, meaning he won't likely be in uniform tonight. It remains to be seen how Iverson handles the demotion, but for now, he looks like the Pistons' sixth man.

Rasheed Wallace was fined $25,000 by the league on Friday for his actions after being ejected from Wednesday's game.

The good news is he's yet to be suspended for technical fouls, as he still stands two short of the magic number of 16 before being suspended for a game.

Allen Iverson out for tonight, Rasheed Wallace fined

Friday February 27, 2009, 5:06 PM
ORLANDO, Fla. -- It's too soon to tell how Allen Iverson will handle coming off the bench. One thing we do know, is there won't be an answer tonight.

Iverson had a Magnetic Resonance Imaging test conducted today on his sore back. A team official said the results were negative.

However, Iverson was scheduled to return to Detroit for further tests. His status remains questionable for Sunday's game at Boston.

As for Wallace, the league announced just a few minutes ago that Wallace was being fined $25,000 for "his actions in the fourth quarter" of Wednesday's loss at New Orleans.

Wallace was whistled for a technical foul by official Bill Kennedy at the 7:55 mark in the fourth after arguing about a non-call moments earlier.

While on the bench, a ball boy tried to give Wallace a towel. Wallace swiped at the towel, which then sailed into the stands. That led to a second technical, which is an automatic ejection.

Prior to leaving the court, Wallace threw a towel toward the court seemingly in the direction of the officials.

Wallace now has 14 technical fouls on the season.
