Well, it looks as if its finally gonna happen in about a year, and thought I would go ahead and start budgeting for the honeymoon now, so that when the time comes, it will be all paid for. This is all new territory for me *gulp* so I dont have a clue really how much honeymoon's cost, or where good places to go are. Im figuring $7500-$10k for a decent honeymoon, is that a good figure? What places around the world do you recommend for a honeymoon? Im leaning toward sun and beaches, any good places pop in your head? Is that $$$ figure I mentioned earlier a fairly decent projection? Any other suggestions for a first-timer honeymoon?:)

thanks

My favorite place is the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Maui. It is right on the beach, has great restaurants, golf, tennis, about 3 pools one that has a bar inside the pool, & beautiful sunsets. Can rent a car & tour the island. Money back guarantee if you don't like(only kidding)!

Good Luck

Sandy Bay resort in Barbados is on my top list, you also may want to talke a look at the resorts in NW part of Aruba, some of the nicest beaches in the world. Fiji is wonderful as well, might be a tad out of your budget, but worth it IMHO.

UT--I have been researching the same thing lately. After speaking to several people and knowing that I do not want to be responsible for a damn thing for that week, I am leaning towards an all-inclusive resort. The one that has caught my eye the most is in St. Lucia. I was always very skeptical of all-inclusives until I talked to several friends and other people and heard their experiences.

Does anyone have personal stories from all-inclusives. If you have doubts but have never been to one, you are in the same boat as me--but I would like to hear real stories and feedback if anyone has any.

Thanks!

dawg, girlfriend and I went to Sandals Negril last August. One of the best 10 day vacations I have ever had. The beach is gorgeous and we didnt have to worry about paying for a damn thing on resort all week. Drinks delivered to your chair on the beach, or our suite had a fridge they filled every day.

Email me if you want to see pictures from there.

As Ace said Sandals is the place, really does not matter which island you go to. I have been to 2 sandals resorts and they really know how to treat you. I have been to Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Antigua --- excellent. :D

Leaving for my Honeymoon in about 3 weeks. We are going to the Atlantis in the Bahamas. Everyone I spoke to said that we are going to love it. The package ran about 4500 for 7 days with airfare and a meal package.

Thanks for the input. I am looking at Sandals St Lucia Golf and Spa Resort. I talked to their rep yesterday and she said the Grande Lucian is more relaxing and the G & S Resort has more activities.

I had a good friend stay at the SuperClubs resort in Negril last April and came back with all praises.

The rooms that I am considering would be just over $4,000 all-inclusive. Airfare would be on top of that. Orbitz had the fare at $1650 for the two of us flying American Airlines the whole way.

So pushing $6,000 (more than I wanted to spend) but should not be a dime more.

Still looking if anyone else has suggestions.

10K for a honeymoon! shit dude! will you marry me instead?

Destinations:
All inclusive resorts are a good way to go. You really do have no worries. Its just soooooooooooo much easier on the mind and you can just putz around in flip flops and shorts and not worry about nothing except where your next beer is going to be placed.

Most of the carribbean and mexican areas offer some great places for these types of joints.

Hawaii - nice place, but depending on where you go could get costly. I dont know of many all inclusive type resorts that offer all the perks like the caribbean places do. But a good idea might be to get some sort of package deal where you have your home base hotel on one island, and then can hop a few interisland flights to the neighboring islands and spend a day on each island. they are only 45-60 minutes plane rides and you get to get out and do some fun sightseeing and tours. cuz, well, its your honeymoon and i am sure you dont want to be all couped up in a hotel room for a week... My wife and I spent 3 weeks in Turkey on our honeymoon. Not your average, everyday trip-- and its not for everyone, obviously. But if you are looking for something out of the ordinary for your honeymoon, Turkey is a beautiful country full of warm, friendly people. Again, not for everyone, but I do have some interesting stories that I can tell at cocktail parties....

Matt: my choices in order are:

1) South Central LA in July. Cheap hotels, just avoid being out in the open too long. 5*

2) Olneyville, RI. gotta love the smell in the summer. The fish smell AINT from the water!!!

3) Ozarks, West Virginia. Super 8 discounts galore and Blockbuster still has "deliverance" packed out on their New Release Wall!!!! 4.5* :D

4) Milton, Florida. VERY LOW rent and the Champion Paper Mill makes the air, very disturbing. people always named 2 names (bobby lee, brenda sue.) makes working at the local video store very difficult! 4*

5) GUAM. if you like snakes, this is the place for you. very cheap to live, just watch out what's under the covers. if the covers rise, rest asure it aint your manhood!! :D 3.5*

6) Pascagoula, Mississippi near the panhandle. plenty of outlet malls, just bring along your sister for an additional 15% discount. (an extra 5% if you 2 are married) :D 2*

Hope this helps. just my top 6. LOL. (all in fun, just in case anyone here in the forum lives there!) Good luck Matt!!!!!!!!

I went down to the lawyers office to get a jump on my divorce, it was all-inclusive, kind of pricey, and a long way from the beach. But I must say, it was strangely relaxing. If I had to do it all over again I would plan a two part trip. The first part is where she yells "I hate you, I never wan't to see you again, I will need some moneyyyyyyyy", and the second part is where I go to Amsterdam:D

Just got back in september from mine. 11 days all inclusive at whyndham aruba and 1 week on voyager of the sees for 7k. Drinking on cruise was extra. So my point is 7 k should be more than enough, unless you go to hawaii which is very pricey

I am not crazy about all inclusive resorts because you are tied into that place for all your meals. I like to try different restaurants at different places & not worry about missing meals.
