i for one do.....things look to be getting very nerve racking....

think if Saddam uses WMD.....very good chance.....here's what happens....

Syria all of a sudden is getting involved....check

WMD used on US and Israel.....

Lebanon bombs Israel....

That whole scene escalates.....

Russia movestroops to protect Syria and Iraq....(already troops are being moved in this and verbal barbs are being thrown)...

N Korea decides to opportunistically invade S. Korea....

China decides to opportunistically invade Taiwan....(recently have said to move timetable up to confront the West)

A tripwire gets broken......BOOM....WWIII

a number of books have been written lately about how we are escalating tensions everywhere....with world so small now, civilizations clash....and we are starting to see that i think....don't know how much longer we are going to have any feeling of peace at home on US soil....

to asnwer your original question....

One would only hope that it doesnt get to that point. This world is allready a shithole - lets not put a crater in it :nooo:

So many people hate this other group of people(example:arab/jews). You would think they would take any advantage to them - at all costs. This world is just greed driven, makes me fawking sick.

There are ways to prevent such a thing...first thing that comes to mind is ban all nuclear weapons - thats every country - including the US. Nukes are everybodys fear in this world, we all see what happens when one is dropped - you just dont die, you just disappear.

You forgot to add Pakistan and India - those 2 have been on the brink of a nuke war for a while now...one threating to use them etc... etc...fawk, one day, they are gonna grab their balls and actually use one.

I wish I had the answers for the worlds problems. But it seems like the worlds solutions can only be fixed by the worlds problem - $$$money. All these diseases, all this fighting, all this everything....just seems too much.

A wise man once told me that only a few times in your life will you witness something change mankind...at 22 years old - I can honestly say I have seen 1 thing change mankind (the internet) and I am hoping to see #2 in a positive way....Until that day comes, I suggest we stay at beating the man, win at texas hold'em, and post mojo pictures till our jaws drop to the ground

Here`s to life and all the shit you have to deal with :drinky:

banning nukes is DEFINITELY NOT the answer.....that would just encourage China, N Korea, and other communist/dictatorship regimes

no way of regulating that ban....we have already seen how effective a "ban" is and that is with 3rd world Saddam Hussein...and we have already seen how effective the world is in regulating a "ban"...and that is again with Iraq....just imagine if this came down against China or N Korea....would not be a pretty site...then we would be talking about a Nuke being used on US forces.....

i dont think the world is greed driven....it is hate driven....i guess greed is a part of hate....every race hates each other, religions hate each other, people within religions hate each other...etc. etc....not much we can do about it now....i think the only way is to fight off the inevitable as long as we can....

Let me be on New Zealand or some place nobody will find me at, and the world can pick its nose for all I care.

We can only wish for the best I guess

Go World :p

This could very easily escalate into World War III but maybe Haliburton could get the contract to clean up the world.

This is not WWIII, Syria has denied the charges, maybe they are supplying some weapons, nothing will happen. Russia would protect Syria or at least sell them weapons.

The US will not invade Syria unless the adminstration has lost their mind. next time the Army should tender the contracts, just looks better.

thanks

25 years of Isreal bombing my homeland....and for what? Cuz Palestinians live there...where the hell are they gonna live!? They get pushed out of Isreal, if they live in teh Gaza Strip or West Bank, they`ll probably die.

I guess it was a joke when Isreal divided Beruit into East and West...you can still see the markings...

Only if were dumb enough to let it happen. Lebanon does not have a bomb unless one was given them. Next they need the rocket or a airplane and they dont have them either. They just got running water and bathrooms three years ago. Syria will shut up. Iran you must watch. But they to will use terror if possiable. We will catch on soon. They all no we have the power of reguler war over them. We need to get smart fast that they all will use terror. Even in Iraq right now. Even With all the training/Planing we, Our Generals are getting caught of guard. Everyone who was pushing this so hard. Remember go back and look at some of the post. This war will be over in less then 10 days maybe 2 weeks at the most. They will coming running to surrender. OK?
So just lets move on to the the next country to have a war there. We can pound our chest and beat the hell out of them to. Then we can come home keep buiding that fense around us higher and higher. Wonder when the next terror attack may come. My home town. Yours. I worry more about this right now then WWIII. I do believe these other countries are getting smarter. Only reason Iraq did not pull it off was Saddam. Not all other counties will have dum asses like him.
We will need to change are tactics to.

Your one sided point of view and hatred is why the Jewish Palestenian crisis will never be solved. Rememeber, it was the Palestinenians, Jordanians, and Egyptians that tried to run Israel into the Ocean 50 years ago and had their asses handed to them in a 6 day war. Instead of concentrating on building good relations with the Jews and striving for a good economic future the Palestian children are raised with pure racist hatred and taught to blow themselves on civilian buses and discos. As much as you are brainwashed to beleive Israel as at fault it is a two way street.

"the bunker"
i have to weigh in

i have to weigh in

as a guy who weighed in originally with a thread with reasons rationalizing why our administration thought this necessary,i now admit to being thouroughly disappointed....i trusted the administration that it had all contingency`s covered...

i suspect now, that the administration may have totally miscalculated the enormity of this undertaking.....and the many different paths that this war might take...

i understand that we are only 9 days in,but the tactics we are using and the tactics being used against us,do not bode well for our success in this war....

looks like all scenarios were not considered by the planners.....and it is unbelievable that any sane person thought that some heavy bombs on saddam`s palaces would cause him to fold like a cheap tent....

and the politically correct, sanitary tactics we are using to fight this war are a total disaster....no matter how careful,no matter how many safeguards we use, there will be some collateral damage....and if you check any of the international media outlets,we are getting skewered p.r. wise all over the world.... they totally disregard all rules of war(this had to be expected),and we are being treated all over the world like deliberate baby killers....we can`t win a p.r. war...and the longer this goes on,the worse it will get...no one in the world gives a damn about our p.o.w.`s being executed...no one gives a damn about white flag surrender attacks....about iraqi `s threatening and killing their own people if they don`t resist..and wearing civilian clothes and hiding in hospitals......yet,khofi anan goes on t.v. and reams us for one missle gone astray.....and that may have been an iraqi missile anyway....

the only way to have approached this war,was to strike as fast and hard and contiuously as possible.....if you are going to attempt a monumental undertaking like regime change in a country the size of california, you can`t half-ass it...this really is beginning to smell a little viet nam like...

i know this is only 9 days old, but, doesn`t anybody else sense that we really miscalculated here....it`s horrible to say, but,a chemical attack would be the worst thing for our troops, but the best thing for our war effort.....for the perception that we are doing the right thing....

and i wonder, like several others in this thread, about the potential for escalation and involvement of other countries.....that is a disaster waiting to happen.....

now we are sitting in the desert waiting for additional troops....

god,i hope the administration is smarter than it`s beginning to appear to be...

Don;t lose hope yet. Most media coverage in the states is now more negative on the war. I don't believe it to be this bad. Most countries have a dislike for us if not a hatred. I'm not too concerned about that at this point. They hate us if we hadn't done this. We can do the PR thing after the war is over.
The tactics being used against us are deporable but if the US had bee invaded, I'm sure citizens would be using guerrilla tactics on our invaders. Since we are overwhelmingly looked upon as the aggressor, most other countries are going to cheer when we get mud in our eye. No one else cares about the tactics they are using against us.

Bottom line: Win the war. Open up the troops a little and give them more room to operate. We are in a no-win situation PR-wise with the civilians so let the troops defend themselves.
Remember the stance most countries have taken towards this war and more importantly, towards the US. In the future, do not be so "giving" when other countries come calling. Let's concentrate on our own problems. no one gives a shit about us with the exception of Britain and Australia. Take care of them and worry about ourselves. I hate to bring on an isolationist policy but I don't see why we try to help every one else out with their roblems only to feel betrayed later when they cheer 9-11 and say we had it coming to us.

Gardenweasel Believe some of what I said above agrees with your thoughts. You did add one thing I didn't. And I agree we are getting killed in the PR battle. Fair or not. One thing we could help our self with is. STOP showing those wonderull bombs blowing things up evertime we have a press conferance. Other news outlet around the world use them by showing woman and children all hurt or dead from those bombs. Even if not true. Our problem we look like the bull and they are the sheep. Chit I can see everyday another 50 young men signing up for terroest attacks.
We have to use the news media to our advantage. You think we would be smart enough to do that. If we can build bombs that can hit a mial box. Come on leadership lets get are heads out of our asses.

I'm not quite as far along the worry line as you are yet.....but there is no doubt about it......the longer this goes on.....the more hope and confidence it gives every other 'California' sized country that might ponder the thought of 'rising up' in the future.

No matter how it's spun to the media.....the administration didnt count on the level of resistence we've seen. I dont think we totally misjudged either.....just think it was somewhere inbetween the two.

Part of me thinks that we are almost hoping that first chemical attack occurs.....so we can shed a good bit of this political correctness......which is the primary reason this war isnt near it's end.....instead of just dragging along. Our troops are equipped with the technology to withstand a chemical attack. Sure.....there will be equipment malfunctions.....but a chemical attack will not wipe out thousands of troops. I doubt it would wipe out hundreds.

And thats the exact reason why I dont think Saddam will order them used until we're right on top of him. He knows if he doesnt use them......then there's still plenty of doubt in the international community that he doesnt have them......which means that we have to continue on with our politically correct battle plan. Then war drags on for months....and Saddam becomes even more a hero to much of the Arab population.

If only that first attack would have buried everyone inside.....and why the hell there wasnt more focus centered on taking out their television....I dont know.....but then again....I'm not on the front lines, either.

So Cal
A lot of valid points from both sides in this thread. Personally, I don't think that this will erupt into WW3. However, I do see that some countries will take advantage of the situation and force some pretty tough decisions. Might NKorea go after SKorea? I think it possible. Might China go after Taiwan? I think it possible. If that happens, we obviously don't have the manpower to fight 3 wars. I think a move by NKorea is the most likely. I am alos in total agreement with Buck about Saddam and the WMD. Right now, he is winning the PR battle, though that matters very little in terms of win/loss. Once he breaks out the WMD, he becomes big time loser in PR. Again, PR won't decide the winner of the war, but it is obviously dictating to a degree the tactics we are employing. I think we take the gloves off if chemical or biological weapons come out because those against would be forced to eat crow.

Ferdville we can could get streched to thin that's for sure. They had a number this morning that we have used 27% of our ordnance in this war so far. I guess that possiable with over 1000 sorties a day. Crusie missles alone over 650. So we need to be careful. I know some guys say drop a couple big ones on Iraq. Well it wont happen. Places is small enough we could kill some of our own people. I have a hunch big push starts tomorrow even though they think there is a pause. Believe that pause talk may be to confuse a few folks a little. Might even bring a few more out in the open.
