w car +6: been watching this line climb all day and now it looks like we've wrung all the value out we can. appalachian state is a mediocre team picked to finish next to last in the sun belt preseason polls, but is getting to little too much credit here because they have winning record so far (5-4) and just last week beat a pretty good davidson team in boone by 17 as a 10 point dog. but davidson had a rival unc-c and the big carolina on deck and got caught napping. this game is a rivalry game also that goes back 90 years but, as is often the case, it's a little more important now to the little guy than the favorite, who has moved on to bigger things.

catamount coach larry hunter is the best college basketball coach you've never heard of. i remember when he came to the wolfpack from ohio as an assistant with herb sendek in the early 2000's, and moved on to western when sendek got the boot. he's been there ever since, and now sits 8th in division 1 wins with just under 700. almost all of his players graduate, all of his assistants are his former players, and he is a model to all in the profession. coach hunter always has his team ready for this game, evidenced by the fact they've won 7 of the last 9 meetings ( not sure but i believe all as an underdog).

records are deceiving here. western has only two wins thus far (against nobodies) but 7 of 8 games they've played have been on the road. of appalachian's 5 wins, 4 have been at home and the other was a neutral site win vs utep.

too many points here, and i think i'll sprinkle a little on that +220 ml.
