Sad day for Flyer fans out there. Hell of a run though.

- 139 wins
- 4 straight NCAA tourneys
- 2x A-10 Championships

As as life-long Pack fan, I'm happy for Archie. Sure, most Pack fans thought he was the obvious choice when Gottfried was fired. I never thought Archie would even consider the job - it's a tough one. Although Keatts wasn't a splash hire, I think he's the right kind of guy for our program right now. I'm sure Archie will do great at Indy.

SHOULD BE A GOOD HIRE....I HAVE TO LAUGH AS I IMAGINE HIM GIVING NC STATE THE DOUBLE FK YOU :thefinger

Yep, Indiana fans still believe every team should be like the 1976 undefeated National Championship club and back to the glory days whey they won 3 titles in 11 years. Sorry, I don't see those days returning anytime soon, but I like this hire for them.

I honestly thought Alford would be their guy, but I was wrong.

7 Year deal doesn't mean anything!! Indiana boosters will buy him out as fast as they did Tom Crean!!

IU is not the first choice of many coaches hence, they get the leftover names. I like Archie, but who does Archie have playing in the NBA? How far has he taken a team that he coached from day one with his recruits and not the leftover recruits from the Gregory era? NONE!! He went to an Elite 8, but not with his own recruits other than the ones that sat the bench, most of those starters were there under Gregory who left to take G Tech job only to squander out of favor in that program of misfits administrators!!

If you look at a lot of the hirings in the last 3 days, not exactly a bumper crop of names to go fetch, Cal hired internally after getting the shoulder shrug offs from many coaches, Oklahoma St same deal, Middle Tenn HC Kermit Davis signed a lengthy extension with MTSU, why wasn't his name a hot commodity? LOL

I'm surprised Mark Gottfried didn't get a big time leftover job in D1!! :mj07::mj07::mj07::mj07:

There are several jobs remaining open, all MidMajor D1 programs and the smart coaches who made the NCAA tourney like NC Central and Texas Southern decided to stay put thus far because they have a shot at making the NCAA Tourney again next year and don't have to rely on the coattails of leftover recruits from previous program HC!

VCU HC going to LSU, Wade I believe, is in over his head, LSU is an area where they can recruit from nationally but since Brown was there, the program truly did diddly squat other than landing 1 and done, Simmons who I felt was over-rated and felt his play/body were soft, hence foot injury? Really? Play just over 30 games in a season and get a foot injury? Hmm...

Coaching hires are for the birds of late!!

Good luck Archie!! Welcome to who's your daddy land!! Take Tommy Boy's leftovers and go to the Big Dance!!

I am shocked it's not Greg Marshall or Steve Alford... but not a bad hire... just fans who think they are Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, and they aren't anymore. Good Luck Archie! You will likely miss Dayton!

It's kind of funny cuz when IU beat UNC at home everyone was so joyous and happy. Crean got a standing ovation walking off the court. I text my buddy and said "wow, they wanted this guy fired last year and now he's king?" - We see how long that lasted. Hopefully they treat my guy Arch better!

They will if he wins BIG. Most IU basketball fans are Notre Dame football fans. (We call them turncoats). It's funny cause as soon as things go bad in basketball they jump on the Butler bandwagon.

Definitely raised the Dayton Program to respectable levels. Excellent coach, gunna have to recruit his ass off though as this is a MUCH tougher job.
