Baseball blows. Nothing has ever driven me crazier.Quit bases years ago.
....................................................................
A few of my gambling friends used to tell me oh baseball is where the easiest money is to be made.

what a croc of shinolla that one was. I am not playing no more baseball unless I discover some hidden baseball answer.

I will never understand why certain people can cap one sport but not another. It seems that it should all be about the same. Once you get into it and understand things. It just don't work that way.
...................................................................................

I was talking to ocelot in another thread. Thought I would throw this out for discussion. My worst sport is baseball I just don't get it.

NBA also is very difficult for me.

Why is this ? Doesn't it make sense that with hard work and diligence you can be successful in a sport you used to suck at ?
Do you have to love the sport to understand how to bet it ?

Scott,

Everybody has their specialities, I can't cap hockey or tennis and would not even try. As far as baseball it is not a hard game to cap, it is all about pitcher matchups in baseball. Alot of people don't like laying huge juice in baseball, which I am in agreement of that, u look for pitcher matchups, where pitchers have a hard time against a certain team and play the dogs. So if u hit a big dog at say +250, u can lose 2.5 games and still be even, instead of going the other way, and losing one game and having to win the next 3 to break back even. Also look at schedule of heavy road schedules and NBA u look at road schedules and back to back games.

NBA is a hard game to cap, cause any given team can beat another given team at any time, because of the heavy schedule. I like to just do halftimes in nba, figure the angles out, and I read it just like a stock report.

Hockey I've actually never tried to cap, since the season is always on concurrent w/nba and college hoops, really have no interest in it. When I try to spread myself too thin like this time of year w/multi sports, I usually burn myself, so try to stick to one sport. NFL has been hard as shit for me to cap here lately, I might be about done w/that for the year.

Just my 2 cents worth on this!!
GL TO U! Countinguy:)

IMO.............NFL is the worst and hardest sport to cap, it is a constant guessing game on whether the public will be right/wrong, and referees routinely screw up calls and turnovers decide tons of outcomes, and there is too much handle on it, the lines generally are pretty sharp, and the totals forget about

NBA........a little unpredictable, but if you watch nightly(time consuming) you can spot little things. Travel patterns also important, trends, player matchups, Overrall some value, but lot of times the totals are sharp also, but some good spots in totals

College Football.......The news gets better. 100+ teams, many local teams to find info and little tidbits on, usually some winning spts if you try, huge talent gaps makes laying heavy lumber not always a problem, not as many chances as college basketball, but a close 2nd

College Basketball.......News gets even better. 200+ teams, but comes with that is the fact you cant cap them all, and you need to limit yourself and not chase or you'll lose. only 7 guys play per team, easy to keep track of the big time clubs, and good to rely on other experts in local conf's to make you $$

MLB......my favorite due to the myriad of factors, lifetime matchups, pitching trends, hitting trends, team trends, and of course heavy dog payouts....truly is a grinding sport not a quick fix, better be in it for the long haul, but I find it fun to cap, except when closers blow ridiculous leaves and give us heart attacks

I try not to vigorously cap 2 sports at the same time. I've never been able to have any success this way. Winning at one while donating it all back. Right now playing foots while spot playing hoops.;)

I agree with everything you said. Ok one more question.

Lets just say that all sports stopped except hockey and we
were all forced to just wager on it.

It would be a total lost cause ?

thats discouraging.

Great info. thanks.

See that is what I am getting at.

Is your best advanatage at wagering baseball because....

its fun to cap for you ?

For instance, I have never really enjoyed watching baseball games and usually only tune it towards the 7th inning. But I mean I played baseball all my life and certainly understand all the rules and most match ups ?

we all do this. it sounds so familiar. I love college baskets so I have been trying to read up on that and watch some games, but damit it interferes with my football season.

thats the longest list of sports you can do that I have seen.

I have gotten much better at totals in NFL. I used to never be able to pick them at all.

There is hope.

SCOTT thank you but it is not as good as it looks I only really make money on the top four. My college football usually starts real solid then goes in the crapper the 3rd week of OCT.

Why,.. the teams change and I don't adjust. This year was an abnormal year for me in College football I lost right outta the chute and QUIT about 3-4 weeks in.

Not gonna chase NFL totals, my focus is on the sides and I generally do real good, why move your focus and lose or juice out on both efforts.

The Top Four is where the profit is at for me. That was the great thing about rolling over the prize fund last year. College baskets followed my winning the NFL contest. Anthony at Infinity put an additional restriction on me with the ML's and the buying of points in college baskets, when I really caught fire in January rolling that baby over. ;)

I've found it very easy to make money as long as you wait to post how much you actually wagered on a play until after the game is over.

It's great on message boards, but I haven't found a book yet that let's me wager this way. Maybe I should start a post in the Offshore book forum.

i, for one, realized awhile back that it is easier to cap teams and/or conferences, instead of the whole sport.

college football kicked my arse for 5 years until i decided to concentrate on the big 10 and sec and leave the east and west coast teams alone for the most part.

MY FAVES

MY FAVES

COLLEGE HOOPS-- my big bread winner and i love coll hoops.

NHL-- has been real good to me.

Baseball---- a real grind but still turning a profit.

College Foots--nip and tuck for me ! I tend to lose in the long run with it.

NBA-- i don't even look at anymore. won't watch it. could care less. I do well enuff in college. And when college is done , i go to the bases. You couldn't even give me a free 50 Timer on these gangsta rapper thugs.

NFL-- i have become less interested in it and that's a good sign for me ! Being able to resist wagering on the NFL is the biggest step i took. I'll make some small plays..but that's it.

Boxing-- FIXED.PERIOD.-Because of The 1st Lennox Lewis-Holifield Fight--- i don't even follow or care anymore about Boxing.
Yes , i bet Lewis and got a push, which was bullshit. Don King is a scumbag, but just one of many that were in the boxing game.

Horses--small..occasionally...But i do enjoy handi-capping them. But it's a very very reduced wagering proposition for me.

thanks for this thread Scott ! if you are having a hard time with the bases.. watch it from afar. GOOD LUCK THOUGH

Scot, what's your opinion on COCK-FIGHTING ?

I totally agree with this. Capping too many conf will make you crazy. It really helps to find your niche and then do not deviate from the plan.

Had to laugh at these and agree for the most part. Boxing pisses me off but you should check out BOXLOCKS in Off the wall , he is uncanny with boxing picks.

I have been to the horses twice in my life and won both times. If I can view the horses before hand I seem to be able to cross the nags off my list.

As for COCK FIGHTING -

If I was going into COCK FIGHTING I would make sure that I had the biggest baddest cock in the land. Then I would buy the biggest sharpest set of spurs and let my cock spill blood.

Hmmm that didnt come out just right.

thanks for info.

We still havnt got to the bottom of this question.

Lets take the NBA alone for instance.

I agree they are thugs and alot of games, and free throws, etc .

But what is it that some sports wagerers have that allows them to win consistantly at the NBA ?

Can they read team motivation of the 7 players that play better than the rest of us ?

Its still a big mystery ?
