I have taken some very hard losses in my day-but today takes the cake. I can not begin to describe to anyone how bad a beat it was on Buffalo today. Then I come back with the WORST offensive performance by those GUTLESS Vikings. I don't need this shit or do I?? I am truly thinking of PACKING IT In and calling it quits. How many times can I make a confident play and just LOSE?? Even the right side does not do it. Luckily I learned long ago(the hard way)-not to chase.
Over the past couple of weeks I have suffered so many bad beats it is undescribible-most involving Bills and Bear endings.
Two weeks ago-The Bills score back door to seem to get the cover-but they let ASmith break 10 tackles and score when NE should have been taking a knee. I was on the Losing end of both Bear OT int TDs wins. And both got me again today.
Buffalo had that game from Quarter 1. I could go on forever-but Greg Williams is the F'ckin DUMBEST coach that I had seen on the sidelines since Denny Green. Both Rob Johnson and he should get the HELL out of Buffalo. And why the HELL is Miami going for the bomb instead of setting up Mare??
Tonight-Randy Moss showed America his true stripes-he is a QUITTER. He should be ashamed to take a paycheck. Afraid of getting hit MR Moss?? Try and put forth a little effort when collecting a paycheck of like $500,000 per game. And Culpepper?? And Green's play calling...I could go on and on.
THe last gripe I have is that the officials calls in ALL games over the past 3 weeks is an EMBARRASSMENT to the game. It is the worst I have ever seen.
I will read this thread again in the morning and see how I feel-but to be honest-I have always looked for that reason to stop and call GA-today just might have been that day!! Thanks for letting me vent ....

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY!
Hey bud...

I am sure that 80% of us out here understand how you are feeling. The worst thing that can happen, at least to me, is losing your confidence. It is so hard not to. I had a rough day today, but somehow struggled back to even with Bears and Under, but I have been on a seemingly endless skid of small losses that just begin to wear on a guy.

Hang in there, keep your discipline, and know that others are with you. Things will turn around. I like to take a weekend off when it seems like Im looking at the card through a screen door. YOu know, when you can make a case for EVERY SINGLE SIDE on the card. That's a good time to take a break.

Hang in there Whale.

Think ironlock makes a good point, about those weeks when you have a soft opinion on every game instead of a strong opinion on a few. That's when I do my worst, for sure. Especially when I go ahead and play a lot of those games because I don't want to leave any "winners" on the table.

WW -- If Williams is the dumbest coach in football, why did you bet on his team? Why did you bet on Rob Johnson, or Denny Green? Do you acknowledge the officials' role in your wins as often as you blame them for your losses?

It's just streaks. Why vent against randomness? Use your time to figure out if you could have done something better.

WW, it happens to everyone who plays for any length of time at all. A guy I know who's been playing for over 20 years said it best. 'Bad beats are like apple seeds. Nobody likes 'em but they come with the apple.' If I might offer some words of consolation:

Don't take it personally. It is no reflection on you, it's just the way things go sometimes.

Don't stay angry. Do something to blow off the steam, take a deep breath, then decide if you REALLY want to be a player or not. If you decide in the affirmative, keep in mind that this kind of sh*t WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

Don't think that the gambling gods are against you. There are no gambling gods.

I know how you feel. Really. Some years back I had the Bears in a preseason game. The Bears have the number covered by 6 points with less than 30 seconds left in the game, and they are winning to boot. For some unknown reason Harbaugh drops back to pass, throws the INT, no cover. I've had lots of 'em but that one always stayed fresh in my mind. The funny thing was that after the kickoff Chicago decided to just sit on the ball. I always wondered if the offensive coordinator had some money on that game (I'm just kidding, it's an example of how a bad beat can f*ck up your thinking.)

Better luck next time.
