Back in early Nov a group of Army cadets wearing Grateful Dead T-shirts drove down from here to Annapolis. With bolt cutters and the"cover of nite" stole Billy the Navy mascot goat.Cadets have hidden him for over a month and when army takes the field today good old Billy will be shaved with a big "A" implanted on his ass.In 1991 a peace treaty between the two schools was put into place after the famos helicopter chance of the Army mules and Navy midshipmen."We didn't know about the treaty until afterwood" said one of the 'deadheads".
A picture of Billy will also be produced and presented to the army corp.Billy is said to be wearing the corp dress grey,3 stripes as a cadet lieutenant, and a ski mask over the goats face.
Comr Spann of the Naval Aca. said"I can confirm that one of our goats is missing".However I would be surprised that a West Pt cadet would do that since we have an agreement".Lt Col Whaley of the Army corp said"we have no knowledge that any cadets were involved"."We have a mutual ban on mascot rustling".But he did say also"I'm not sure if the ban was still on".Ahhhhhh
And there it is.Army brass of course knew about it.But the culprits will be punished on a "one to one" basis with the Army commandant.
So if you happen to turn on the game today watch for the roar of the Army corp when Billy comes running out with a big A tatooed to his ass.
You gotta love this.I'll be back in awhile and capp the game.Army is really hurting at the skill positions today.Nevels shoulder is hurting. He already has that bad hamstring. If he goes down or can't play Dahman cannot throw the ball in Giants stad.No way. It's in the low 30's with a nice wind chill.Armys 2 top Wr's are about 75% ready today.White the 15th ranked punt ret and WR will play about half the game.Commeaux their top WR is worse. He is listed to play"some".
They will start 2 frosh RB's.So today army is really hurting at the skill spots.
I'll come back and capp it a little more.

This is a paste from Lopesi article.

The numbers are as bleak as ever. Army is 1-10. So is Navy.

Army has 32 turnovers. The Cadets lost five fumbles to Holy Cross, threw six interceptions to Southern Mississippi.

Navy is even worse. Navy has 35 turnovers.

Navy has beaten four Division I-A teams with winning records since 1990. Navy is 2-30 this century.

Navy is 110th in the country in scoring defense, leaking 38.5 points each and every game.

Army is 112th, giving up 39.4.

Army has used six different quarterbacks this season, four of them freshmen, another a sophomore walk-on.

"We've had a pitching rotation at quarterback," coach Todd Berry was saying.

Rutgers finished 1-11. Army lost to Rutgers 44-0.

Connecticut has been a Division I-A team only three years. Navy lost to Connecticut 38-0.

But no matter how long the list of futility of the two teams in this game, the question is always the same at the end.

So?

***

This game is always charming, but it seems a particularly appealing antidote this year, as the "in" crowd grapples over BCS points and bowl assignments. And the critics howl that the world is so unjust because there is no playoff, which supposedly would make everyone happy, not to mention rich.

Meanwhile, guys possibly headed one day for war will play a football game for pride and nothing else. And they will hold nothing back.

I'd rather spend a little time with a rivalry so even after 102 years, each side has scored the exact same number of touchdowns. It's a 177-177 tie.

A rivalry whose history may not show any recent ranked teams, but includes the 1914 game, where nine of the Army seniors would end up generals.

Don't come looking for NFL prospects. But notice Navy guard Grant Moody, who missed practice this week to interview as a candidate for a Rhodes scholarship.

The last Navy player to make it was Stansfield Turner in 1947, and he ended up an admiral and director of the CIA.

The Army-Navy games mean nothing in the polls. But eight of the past 13 games have been won in the final minute.

Army won five straight in the 1990s, which would suggest dominance. Except the five wins were by a total of 10 points.

Navy has a new coach who is trying to build a total program, and might be doing it. The Mids nearly beat Notre Dame.

"We have to do more than try and beat Army to be successful," Paul Johnson said.

But his emotions will be rubbed raw Saturday, like those before him.

There is a place where the competition is so pure, that records truly don't matter. Maybe the only day in sport that is genuinely true.

Given the choice, I'd rather see one Army-Navy game than one Super Bowl
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Box-Navy lost to rice 17-10,ND 30-23 and WakeF 30-27.The last 2 was pretty recent.Army finally won a game vs Tulane but Memphis ran all over them last week.
Playing at the Meadowlands I think is an advantage for Navy's running game.Candeto does a nice job on the option.Army loses its advantage of playing against option because they don't use it anymore.Army defense lyr stopped Madden and the option.Navy's defense is rated one of the worst but against ND and Wake they played good.
Army offense is what scares me.If Nevels was 100% Army has a chance of moving the ball.W/O him or at full strenghth they could be hurting. If Dahman comes in Navy will make him throw on the run.He has a problem throwing in the pocket with protection.
Armys defense gave up 380 yds rushing to AF.They also couldn't stop Memphis.
In the last 9-13 games in this series its gone down to the last few minuts.
My heart says Army. But I think overall Navy is a little stronger. And if you add the Army injury situation at the skill positions that also gives the midshipmen a big advantage.
Navy wins this by a TD.
But the "deadheads" are my boys today. But they could be in trouble today. Also the rumor is the cadets fed Billy so good he put on a lot of weight. They wanted the "A" on Billy's ass to be as big as possible.
GL Navy -3.5
