To understand why and how i feel about this matchup i have to discuss where i believe the advantages and disavantages are for both teams.
Notre Dames biggest advantage is it is fresh and new to them, full of excitement. They will be pumped, be careful, they're not use to the humid weather this late in the year. There other advantage is the tight end who i rank #1 in the nation.
Alabama's advantage is they have been here and done that. they're focus will be 100% on the game.
They also have an added advantage, they can run and pass the ball. I think Lacy will be the star for Alabama, and Notre Dames lack of ability to come from behind with their freshman qb Golson will also be a major factor.
Don't take that the wrong way domer backers! I like Golson. But he is still a freshman, McCarron has been here before, and played many tough games just like this hyped up game 3-4 times now, plus vs.LSU 3 times, which has a better passer than Golson. You say well he is just like Johnny football and will give Ala. trouble. Guys he is not Johnny Football. He cannot run or pass as good as mr. football. Alabama's offense will wear ND down as i see the freshman making a couple critical turnovers putting notre dame in a come from behind hole that they will not be able to climb out of.
For Notre Dame to win as a underdog, their plan will be to run the ball, play field position, and manage the game to try to have a shot to win in the 4th quarter. That is where my under 1st half play comes in.
For Alabama to win the game, their plan will be to run and pass the ball, pressure the qb into mistakes and wear down notre dame with those two running backs with a lead in the 4th quarter and put it out of reach. I'm predicting a 27-10 game that Alabama wins. I think first half will be a feeling out for both run first teams, with alabama leading by 7-10 points.
