R8 - #5 SPORTS TOWN (4/1) SHOW $15.40 Bridge jumper on Lawrence the Roman?? The show pool was way out of whack?
GULFSTREAM
R1 - #1 COMPLEX GOALS (4/1) --> Favourites look vulnerable in the opener, and Velasquez maintains mount on this one. Should be competitive. OUT
R2 - #3 MEDIA CITY (2/1) --> This colt has been working like a demon for Harty. Although this is the fifth kick at breaking his maiden, this $650K yearling has come out of some key races. PLACE $4.60 $3.20
R3 - #5 BUCHAREST (4/1) --> Steady Beyer pattern; won only start over the GP surface PLACE $4.00 $2.60
R4 - #5 MARCHFIELD (3/1) --> Interesting to see where this Canadian horse fits in; Casse one of Canada's top trainers PLACE $3.00 $2.40
R7 - #7 DREAMING OF ANNA (4/5) --> She will be the chalk of the chalk, but well deserved; Working impressively and sports an unbeaten career record and over a million in the bank SHOW $2.10 Disappointing effort from Eclipse winner....
R8 - #11 - OMAGGIO (3/1) --> Will try the Douglas/Catalano/Calabrese combo one more time in this very competitive race; weakened in last race, but could be excused by the fact she may not have liked the yielding surface PLACE $4.80 $3.20
R10 - #10 - BOND CHAMP (8/1) --> It is possible this guy could double-up off the last effort; same class, same distance, same outside post, and with same effort, could be the best OUT
FAIRGROUNDS
R1 - #3 - WHATDREAMSRMADEOF (2/1) --> ML favourite, but look for others to take some money as well; adds blinkers and improved effort off last would make him the best WIN $3.20 $2.10 $2.10
R2 - #2 - entry (7/2) --> Play on a trainer hitting at 31% and same 31% with horse first off the claim (2B - Rome is Burning) OUT
R3 - #6 - CHOSEN CHIEF (8/1) --> Off since Nov. 3, but steady works make this one playable at an attractive price in this competitive turf sprint OUT
R7 - #5 - STORM TREASURE (10/1) --> Potent jockey/trainer combo and like the fact he had that last start under his belt - could be ready to pounce SHOW $3.20
R9 - #5 - CIRCULAR QUAY (9/5) --> More chalk, but the major competition is outside of this colt; also think the pace scenario will favour his closing kick OUT
SANTA ANITA
R1 - #6 - HERE COMES RAY (7/2) --> Adds blinkers, drops out of G2 contest and switches to the hill. Last out had the highest speed figure, and his Beyer pattern does not suggest a bounce OUT
R3 - #1 - GOTTA HAVE HER (3/1) --> 2nd Start for this $300K yearling; beaten in her debut by Cash Included, who has been made a 7/2 selection in the G1 Las Virgenes today WIN $5.00 $3.20 $2.40
R5 - #8 - MARSILIO FICINO (CHI) (10/1) --> Was only beat 3 1/2 lengths in his debut on American soil on this same course in the same condition and at the same distance. He also gets the grass experience of Brice Blanc. Very playable at an attractive price. OUT
R6 - #4 - DE BRANDON BOY (9/5) --> Could be a huge effort after some time in the Baffert barn for this well bred colt. OUT
R10 - #10 - FIREMAN'S RIDE (9/2) --> This one appears to have "seconditis" and could not break the maiden at Turf Paradise, however was competitve at Del Mar back in the summer with Chavez up. Race appears wide open, and I give this one a real good shot. OUT
