Atomic Rain to run in Haskell Invitational
July 25, 2009

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) -The new owners of Atomic Rain have decided to take on Preakness winning filly Rachel Alexandra and Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park next Sunday.

Atomic Rain won the Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth in his last start, and was purchased several days ago by Sheik Mohammed's Godolphin Stable from George and Lori Hall.

The colt's regular rider Joe Bravo will be aboard for the $1.25 million Haskell, a Grade 1 race featuring the Preakness and Belmont winners and several other top 3-year-olds. Atomic Rain's three victories have come at Monmouth.

Also under consideration for the Aug. 2 Haskell are Bunker Hill, Munnings, Papa Clem, Duke of Mischief and Together Indy.
