With Australia leading the series 3-0 in the best of five and having backed the Aussies to win 3-0, 4-0, 5-0, the only bet at present I can recommend is an insurance bet.

England to win 4th test @ 14/1 0.5 points.

Two other possible plays

Steve Waugh on player performance (bet365) 65 points or more @ 5/6,

England to be less than 175.5 runs behind on first innings (sportingodds) @ 10/11

Since 1989/90 there has been 48 innings in total at Melbourne. On only three occassions out of 24 innings has a score above 400 been scored in the first innings. Even allowing for the poor bowling attack which England have the Australians may well stuggle to secure alead of more than 176 runs.

For information purposes the three innings where more than 400 runs were scored are as follows.

95/96 Australia 500 v. S.Lanka
99/00 Australia 405 v. India
01/02 Australia 487 v. S.Africa

Infact the more I think about it I will play that Australia will not lead by more than 175.5 runs after first innings @ 10/11 for 1 point.

Just been to sportingodds to place bet.

The line has moved to 169.5 runs and England @ 4/5

Still played so this will be the market I will use for result purposes.

Sorry for the late thread, but the festive activities have gone on longer than I thought. What I mean is that the bloody in-laws took root and at one time I thought they were going to move in.

Looking forward to the next few days of reading other members threads on this event.

Happy christmas to you all.

This is being posted before day 4 of the 4th test.

WHAT A STATE CRICKET HAS BECOME.

We are in the era of supposibly having the best umpires in the world forming an elite group of eight. What a f%!king joke.

Recap of events from this one match.

Firstly Hayden struck on the boot smack in front of middle stump, evidence proved the middle stump would have been knocked out of the ground. Umpire's verdict NOT OUT.

Secondly, Butcher given out LBW when evidence clearly showed that he had hit the cover off the ball before ball struck him on the pads. Umpire's verdict OUT.

Thirdly, Hussain was caught by Gillespie no more than twenty yards from the umpire, yet no decission could be made, therefore refering it to the third umpire and with slow motion and zoom lense technology even he said NOT OUT.

Fourth, Foster given out LBW when the ball struck him outside the line of leg stump. This decission beggered belief.

Fifth, Trescothick given out LBW when struck outside the line of off stump and playing positive stroke.

Finally and I am sure it wont be the last, Hussain given NOT OUT when he was stumped by Gilchrist. How the third umpire came to that conclusion I do not know.

So we have had six shit verdicts in three days. No wonder players no longer walk and the gamemanship has been long gone. When you get crap like this, these umpires should be dismissed and replaced. Human error will always exist but when the six decissions have been made by the third umpire ( 2 decissions ) and by Tiffin ( 4 decissions ) then surely these muppets should not officiate at international level again.

Australia were effected by two of these errors, where as England were effected by four of these mistakes. It would help if we were able to compete with the best team in the world on a level playing field, but with crap and such blantant errors by the umpires life becomes impossible.

This is not the first time this has happened, but I mention it now as so far in four matches 17 umpirer errors have been made, each supported by video footage. From these 17 mistakes, 13 of them have gone against England, thats a very large percentage.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Pawaqatsi.

Points bet on 4th Test = 2.5
Points returned = 2.75

A profit, although only small, of 0.25 points is my just deserts for not playing on Waugh in the Player Performance market which I mentioned as a possible play.

No damage done and now I can get back into full swing for the New Year.

dont follow a lot of cricket but I do rememeber reading some columns by some former cricketers who had played in Australia about how they were playing against 13 guys (11 players + 2 umps). Similar sentiments have been expressed by a lot of people.

I am not sure but I think now they have neutral umpires for all games. Which means that its just pure incompetence of they have been bought out.

Either way .. hard luck for England .. then again Aussie is much better side .. but same as refs focked up NFL this year .. umps should not screw around with cricket .. leave it upto the players to take money and screw up the game ..

again my knowledge is very limited so I may be wrong in what I have said upstairs.

Cheers !!!

Spock your right, all games are screwed up. In every sporting event there's at least one balls up.
The point I was trying to make is although there will always be human error, it happens in cricket more than any other sport I can think of. Since my post another two decissions were called wrong by the umpires.
