Run lines, like a lot of things, are very situational. Starters as well as bullpen matchups in a particular game as well as team mindset. It's also a good way to insulate your self against a fav. you like, but not wanting to expose yourself to laying -175 or higher. That's usually my threshhold.
They don't come up everyday, but when they do, I try to take advantage of the odds as I'm not a big dog player.
That's my take, I'm sure everyone who posts has a different slant.

MOV,

Interesting. I've always been intrigued by runlines in baseball, but I've been burned on home team runlines by half a run so many times they just scare me to death.

I know cappers who swear by them, but anymore when I play a run line I match it up with a straight play on the money line and get what is in effect a wager on a runline of -1 because if the final score has the home team winning by one you win the moneyline bet and lose the runline bet. That equals a push on a line of -1.

Let's see what happens on your plays tonight doing that . . . just for kicks.

CIN 115/100
-1.5 100/170 equals CIN -1 215/270

ATL 185/100
-1.5 100/115 equals ATL -1 285/215

MON 110/100
-1.5 100/160 equals MON -1 210/260

Your plays were for 3 units each all at even money for a total of:

900/1335

The modified plays equal about 2.37 units risk and total:

710/745

Obviously if you hit all three without getting hooked by the half you will make nearly twice as much . . . but I thought it would be interesting to check the outcome. I have found it nearly impossible to hit three out of three runlines in one night without that damned half a run getting me somewhere.

Good luck,

NCU
