Got back late last nite after watching the No 2 team in the country[USA Today] McQuaid Jesuit beat Christian Bro's Academy of Cuse in the NY State semifinals in Glenn falls.McQuaid has 4 D-1 players with NY state's Mr Basketball,Tyler Relph who is going to West Vir.
What a game as McQ beat CBA 58-52.CBA got "hosed" by 2 horrendous calls at the end in a 1 pt game.CBA had 5 white gds vs a 6'5,6'6 and 6'8 front line.Those guys are going to Penn and Fairfield.CBA players will play intramurals in college except for one kid who is the best soph in the state.But he is also the No 1 ranked Qb in the state.
Anyway no way McQ should be ranked that high.There are 5 NYC teams that could beat them.Relph is a 6'0 pt gd that is awesome.Looks just like Brad Pitt.All the BE coaches were there scouting.Beilein of WV was there just to make sure Tyler doesn't change his mind.Orr of the Hall was right behind the McQ bench.
Watched some great games.
Kentucky -6.5 over Miss St
Can't see the Cats having a letdown.UK did beat MSU by 8 a few weeks ago.But Cats play better defense and get "stops".They are tough on the offensive bds and dominate the defensive ones.It's hard for teams to get "runs" on offense.
They can stop perimeter shooting by contesting open shooters.
MSU has some great gds in Zimmerman and Bowers.Both are athletic and can play D. Of course Austin is a force.But I think with Estill,Daniels and Carmera that is a solid front line.Bogans is a stud and Hawkins has come alive.
See a close game.But the Kats pulling away in the last 5 minuts.To much depth,balanced scoring and defense.
Illi -8.5 over Ohio St
Bucks are fighting for their lives after being seeded 8th.Have been on fire going 4-1ats in last 5.Just think they will have a tough time stopping Selfs motion offense.He spreads everyone out so far and that gives Cook so much room.I liked Illi and Wisky but OSU stopped the Wisky offense.OSU with Darby and Connally need good looks. Both guys are to streaky.Illi with Cook,Powell,Smith,and little Dee will be to much for the Bucks to handle.
Mizzou +5.5 over OU
Mizzou with Arthur inside getting his double doubles,Paulding and Clemons scoring will cause OU some problems.OU has Price,Ere,White and Bookout.But this game should be close.Mizzou did beat them once this yr by 15.OU plays all over the floor but so does Mizzou.
North Car St +8.5 over Duke
Like the Pack here.Hodges is tough.It was only a few yrs ago I watched him in Glenn falls.Lyr in this game Duke rolled over Nc St 91-61.This yr they split with each other.ATS NC St is 16-9 and Duke one of the worst ATS records around.Overall 9-17 and in last 12, 2-10. But Duke has beaten NC St in last 5 by -35,8,6,26 and 4.
Today is a perfect example.Line is always higher because of Duke name.Duke wins by 6 today.Go pack..
