Back with one play!

YTD 42-23

Well I am back and hopefully with a solid play. I have been hitting my college hoops lately so here goes. Of course I am looking at the Sens game. As a few of you have stated Hurme is definitely starting in nets but coach Murray said and I quote" either Storr or Potvin will play in nets tonight" Regardless of who is in nets for the Kings tonight it won't matter. I see this being a high scoring game, never mind the fact that Ott. is the highest scoring team in the league but the Sens at home are tremendous over their last 14. Alfreddson is back tonight and Phillips is out on D. The Kings have the best PP on the road and Ott. has the most goals per game while 5 on 5. This could be one of those crazy 5-4 or 6-5 games, nonetheless I will enjoy taking in this one at the C.C. tonight.

L.A./OTT. o5(-120)

GL to all tonight!

mugs,terryray,

First off, the Kings are hard to figure, they had 10 new faces this year and it showed with their slow start and of late are 6-2-2 in their last 10. I don't like betting against OTT at home. As for the total, I know OTT. is a better over play on the road as they are 13-1-1 over the total on the road. With Hurme in nets, he definitely tends to let in at least one weak goal per game and with OTT playing a little more wide open this year the over looks too good, then again I can be wrong. One thing to keep in mind is that Phillips & Rachunek are out on D for Ott. which means you have 2 non regulars in the line-up on D. This could allow L.A. to put in an extra one with OTT not being as strong on the back end.

GL with your plays!

Horns...Two points I see.

Ottawa's last 10: After every straight up win, they have followed with a SU loss except once. That was a tie @ NY Isles. You'd know better than I, but from the numbers it looks like they are very inconsistant as of late.

Date vs. Score Line
12/18/2001 @Carolina 5-1 (W) 0,100/5
12/15/2001 New Jersey 0-2 (L) 0,-140/5
12/13/2001 Phoenix 6-0 (W) 0,-220/5
12/11/2001 @N.Y. Islanders 2-2 (T) 0,135/5
12/8/2001 Tampa Bay 5-2 (W) 0,-250/5
12/6/2001 @Nashville 2-4 (L) 0,-155/5
12/5/2001 @Dallas 6-3 (W) 0,130/5 W/O
12/3/2001 @Colorado 2-4 (L) 0,125/5
12/1/2001 Boston 2-1 (W) 0,-180/5
11/27/2001 @St. Louis 2-4 (L) 0,135/5

Also, they are playing New Jersey next. This could be (like in the NFL) a doughnut game. Having just played Carolina (in their conference) - now they get LA (out of conf) and then going to NJ (conf game). They could possibly look past this one as they don't get hurt as much by loosing to a West Conf. team.

This situation just happened with the Leafs, winning a conf. game, loosing to LA, now they face Buffalo. I don't know if you've seen any theories in the NHL like that.

I know that was long. Any comments?

the mugs, totally agree with your theory...
about this game being a doughnut game for the SENS...

teams may not like to say it out loud, but you may be right, they may have a different mentality of this game with NJ next.

wish i had more stats on it.

mugs,

Very well said, one thing is that the Sens play the Western Conf. very well at home with wins over COL.STL.NASH.VAN.,etc... you see my point. They are inconsistent lately but I am not going with my heart on this one, my head says the over but I can't say for sure if they win outright.

1-0 tonight

The good old empty net helped me out tonight. This was a wild game to say the least. Being at the Corel Centre tonight brought on a whole new meaning to brawlfest. For those of you who did not see the game on TV check out the highlights. There were 4 fights in a 3 minute span which then led to a full scale brawl with both goalies going at it and Adam Mair leaving the bench and skating full speed from center ice only to unload on the referee of all people while he was trying to break up a fight. Mair did this in junior hockey while with Windsor in the Jeff Kugel incident. He gets an automatic 10 game suspension and maybe more since it involved a ref. Definitely got my entertainment tonight. Nobody will push the Sens around again, they have no officially shed the label as a soft team.

Good job mugs on the L.A. call.
