Bad Info

Covers had Cederstrom as the plate yesterday in Florida and it was incorrect. I didn't catch it myself but read it at a different site

Mark Carlson is the box score ump at CBS Sportsline & ESPN.



I should have double checked as it cost me a 4% that I would have never played.

The worst point is I posted it here at 7 pm and hope no one else got burnt as I did. Had I double checked I could have bought it back at 9.5 UNDER.

IF this has been posted here before I missed it, JUST wanted to allow others to learn without the expense.

Geno: Don't mean to butt in here, but I think covers was right. Coming home last night I heard the radio broadcast say something about Cederstrom @ the plate. Ft. Lauderdale paper also has him as the home plate ump.

GL today.

can't blame covers.

that ump crew has substitue Packard with them. Don't wanna use him at HP yet, so they are shuffling umps around--not doing normal rotation (Cederstrom was at first, so normally would then be at HP).

substitue ump Spieler is in KC/Cleve crew, so similar situation there.

when you see these sub umps in crew, you have to check it right before game time who is at HP. covers does best guess.

thing is sometimes covers does get it wrong when they should have known it ( but usually pointed out and corrected before game time).

We have no clue who will be at HP in Cle/KC game today until it's posted right before gametime.

Cederstrom should be at HP today in Mont/FL game, being the only experienced ump on that crew not used at HP in this series. But who knows...

When I get them, I'll start a thread and post 'em.


edit/update: I'll post them in ump thread Geno started. it is Reilly as expected in Cle game.

I just noticed now Cederstrom wasn't on crew yesterday.

O'Nora was at 1st last night, so he should be HP tonight as expected.

this is pretty arcane ump stuff. I deal with umps all the time, so I noticed Patterson is a strange name on any ump crew.

you gotta really be into this to a frightening degree to catch that level of detail!!

I follow your threads Terry it is a big help. I check covers early for the best lines AND usually check BEST for the late ump confirmation, BUT I didn't yesterday on this game I was sitting back waiting (read hoping lol) for a ten to hedge the juice back on the initial play but fell asleep on the confirming check at Best.

SO yes I missed you yesterday
