Homer Bailey didn?t like the word ?excited? when asked about his feelings for his first start of the season on Saturday.
?No, I'm not excited. I'm anxious ? it's maybe a better word,? Bailey said. ?I feel like excitement is a giddy, kid term and I'm not that type of person.?
Price, though, said he?s excited to see Bailey back on the mound and in the rotation.
?For all the right reasons, first of all, we've seen a lot of Homer here over the years, we've built an expectation of what he can do when he's healthy and it means a lot,? Price said. ?It means a lot to have more of a veteran presence here and ask them to perform.

Bailey threw a bullpen session on Wednesday and had previously posted a 1.08 ERA and 17/3 K/BB ratio in three minor league rehab starts covering 16 2/3 innings. He is on the mend from elbow surgery which he underwent over the winter. Since 2015, Bailey has made just eight total starts. He had logged sub-4.00 ERAs in each of the three seasons prior to 2015.
