e mich +3-: usually stay away from the mac but this one just appealed to ol' loophole's natural proclivity to dance one time with the ugly girl at the prom. ball st is the prom queen in this one, rolling along 11-4 overall, 3-0 in the mac, winning 8 of their last nine - the best cardinal start in over a decade. in the past week, their rpi has risen eight points (#88) and they've made their first appearance in the mid-major top 25.
so why no loophole love for the hot hand you ask? let's go to the booth for further review. this whole process started with a casual glance at the cardinal wins for assessment of their road worthiness. this process yielded exactly two victories over teams with winning records - last week's win over 9-7 w mich and a win over ind st in NOVEMBER. not much credential-wise to rate being a two possession conference road favorite.
already conceded e mich is the ugly girl at this dance, but interestinly enough, they've won and covered eight of the last ten in this series. also, can't ignore that, when this line opened, the early money poured in on the cardinals and the number promptly dropped a half point. finally, the clincher for me was the fact that brandon dowdry, the eagles' one man team and the best player in the mac, returns tonight from a one game suspension for the ol' "conduct detrimental to the team." gives me the feeling that we might see a solid and focused effort from this stud. enough so to throw a unit out there anyway.
