was actually just gonna post this in my thread as im working on the rest of the mac games. just my humble opinion (sorry to butt into a thread that wasnt directed to me), as i will wait for our resident mac expect worm44 to offer his take, but there are two major things conflicting here:
1) toledo has had a world of trouble with ball state in recent years. and of course, rosters and dynamics change, but toledo has been awfully good the last half-decade and these are their recent games in muncie:
toledo lost outright in 1997 in muncie
toledo won 23-10 in 1999
toledo lost outright there in 2001
toledo lost outright there (and were smashed) 38-14 in 2003.
2) but whats working against ball state is they are coming off the longest game in mac history.
and its almost impossible to ignore what happened to central michigan and eastern michigan after they played their 4OT game last year.
the week after that game, eastern michigan traveled to kent state, and central michigan traveled to buffalo
eastern michigan was blown out 69-17
central michigan was blown out 36-6
there was an article in the indy paper today about this situation actually:
http://www.thestarpress.com/articles/8/048319-5458-006.html
the only advantage is that ball state is not traveling the next week (the way emu and cmu were last year). they get it at home, and against a team that theyve (inexplicably) enjoyed success against.
if there was no 5OT hangover to worry about, id give ball state a serious look. but i gotta pass here.
