the worst part of it all is saltalamacchia struck out looking. unacceptable. if it is close you have to swing. put the fucking ball in play. :facepalm:

i had a legion coach that played major league ball for the cardinals. his philosophy was if you had a guy on third with less than 2 outs and you struck out looking, he would yank you from the game. no discussion - your ass was sitting no matter what. when it happened guys would walk back to the bench and not get back up. i think the coach (paul eames) was dead right.

I dont agree. There have been way more strikeouts in this series by hitters swinging at balls out of the strike zone. Fundamental baseball would dictate that you shorten up your swing and try to make contact with a pitch in the strikezone.

Obviously, he should have swung. But to say he shouldswing no matter what is not right.
