San Diego -110
-Despite losing to Washington yesterday, the Padres are still 4-2 their last 6 games and are just 4.5 games back of the fading Dodgers in the NL West. San Diego has their best pitcher of the season going, in RHP Nick Pivetta who has an excellent record of 9-2 with an ERA of just 2.88. He is also in excellent recent form with an ERA of 1.50. Pivetta, despite getting off to a slow start on the road, he has won 3-straight away from Petco allowing just 4 ER's in 19 IP. Furthermore, Pivetta has already beaten the Nats this year, shutting them out on 3 hits and 10 K's. The Nats start lefty MacKenzie Gore who is just 4-8 on the year, with a decent ERA, but he has lost his last 2 decisions to San Diego. However, the deciding factors are the Nats are just 2-9 their last 11 games and 2-8 L10 in games vs the Padres. Look for the Padres to even up the series today.
Philadelphia RL +132
-The Phillies come into today's game off a 9-5 beatdown of the Angels yesterday and they start Lefty Ranger Suarez, who has been one of the better pitchers in the majors this year. He has a nice record of 7-3 with an ERA of just 2.13. He is even better at home going a perfect 3-0 and he has excellent current form, posting a miniscule ERA of just 1.89 his last 5 starts. The Angels counter with RHP Jose Soriano who has poor current form, going just 1-4 with an ERA of 5.06 his last 5 starts. But here is the kicker: ALL 13 OF THE ANGLES GAMES IN WHICH SORIANO HAS LOST THIS YEAR HAVE BEEN BY AT LEAST 2 RUNS. That is an amazing stat. To make things more juicy, in 8 of 9 of the Phillies wins with Suarez starting, they have won by at least 2 runs! So, if you think the Phillies are going to win this game, there is a 95% chance they are going to cover the runline!
Cincinnati +135
-The Reds come into today's game with the Mets having won 4 straight and start LHP Andrew Abbott who is 8-1 with an ERA of just 2.07 on the year. He is a perfect 4-0 with an ERA of 2.18 on the road this season. In addition, he has gone 4-1 in his last 5 starts giving up just 7 ER in 30 2/3 IP for an ERA of 2.05. The Mets are a complete mess, dropping 3 straight and 5 of 7 and hitting just .229 vs lefties this year. New York starts David Peterson who is just 1-4 with an ERA of 4.60 his last 5 starts and has dropped his last 2 outings vs the Reds. Take the live dog.
Boston/Arizona +189
-Boston comes into this game winning 10 of 12, but dropping their last 2. It is very hard to sweep a good team and we look for the Sox to right the ship today. The Sox start LHP Garrett Crochet who is 10-4 with an ERA of just 2.23 this season. He is also in supurb form going 4-1 with an ERA of 2.03 his last 5. He also is coming off a complete game shutout of Tampa Bay, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 10! Furthermore he is 8-1 on the road this season with a 2.12 ERA! The Cubs are very good at home this year, but Cubs' starter Cade Horton has been awful, going 0-2 with a bloated ERA of 7.71 the last 30 days. Meanwhile, in the other game, Arizona has won 3 in a row, pounding out 22 runs on 31 hits in that span. Arizona starts RHP Merrill Kelly who is a nice 8-5 on the season with an ERA of 3.34 and in his last 2 games he has allowed just 2 ER's in 12 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts. St Louis (who has lost 4 of 5 games) starts RHP Miles Mikolas who has rotton current form, sporting an ERA of 6.07. Furthermore, Mikolas has an ERA of 5.88 in road games this season.
Milwaukee +135
-Milwaukee comes into this game having won NINE games in a row and is looking to sweep the fading Dodgers who are just 2-9 their last 11 games and have lost 5 straight at home. These 2 teams have very similar records, with the Brewers being a profitable proposition of 1357. Milwaukee starts RHP Jose Quintana who is a nice 6-3 on the season with an ERA of 3.28. In Addition, Quintana is a sparkling 4-1 on the road this season with an ERA of 1.62! The Dodgers counter with LHP Clayton Kershaw who has an ERA of 4.93 at home this season. Kershaw (these days) is only good for anywhere between 70-80 pitches in his starts and LOST already this year to Milwaukee. Finally, the Brewers hit .266 on the road (compared to .233 at home) and hit lefties at a .261 clip (compared to .247 vs righties) Although it is hard to sweep a good team, we will look for Milwaukee to make it 10 in a row at a fat underdog price with the better situational factors.
