Between Green Bay and Iowa City
NCAA YTD: 10-9 (+0.04*)
NFL YTD: 5-5 (-0.50*)

2nd and 8 from my own 49 . . .

California(-9) over Oregon State (1.5*)
- - After a humbling start, the pieces have plainly come together for Cal during the last three weeks. Venturing back on the road again, Tedford at this moment plainly has a thoroughbred under his saddle, and the blinders are directing their focus on a Beavers squad that ended their winning streak in Berkeley . . . Overmatched.

Thinking hard about Michigan, Kentucky, Purdue, San Jose State (exactly contrary to my initial impressions), Ohio, Oregon, Alabama and Michigan State, among others. Need to keep looking at those in the days ahead, and make the right choices come game day.

Michigan(-9') over Minnesota (1*)
- - Each edition of the Gophers, under Mason and in the decades prior, can be fairly evaluated not by their wins, but by the beat-downs they receive, mostly in predictable spots; this year's team has all the earmarks of some backsliding . . . Always loaded but Schembechler-bound Michigan is the team that surprises me. The team started their campaign by doing things right but not doing too much while laying in ambush for Notre Dame, then an explosion of historic proportions, then not leaving any doubt against Wisconsin. I've seen more confidence, work-ethic and purpose in finishing plays and finishing games than I generally associate with Michigan, and plainly more than I expected to see coming into the season with Lloyd Carr in the crosshairs. Although there is always a good chance Carr will manage to bring matters to an abrupt halt, I can almost guarantee that getting the Jug back is one of the goals that structured a lengthy off season, and I don't think this is the week where Carr is seen holding the reigns too tight. Go Blue.

Have a great weekend, ~Buckshot~. Cheers! :D

Navy(+110ML) over Connecticut (1*)
- - I've never had an aversion to road chalk, and if judicious in my capping, I never will . . . brought home too many winners. But with situational factors prominent in my capping, I have developed quite an aversion to this type of spot for Navy, to wit, off a loss by a deflating blocked PAT in their first-ever overtime game, on the road and facing legitimate home cooking with a capable rushing defense, and with Air Force on deck. You better have something palpable before pulling the trigger in that spot, and I'll link to these two posts as saying better than I can what that something is I seem to fancy in this game (and taking a shot with Navy certainly affirms you never have everything in an investment or a wager, including the fact I'd also like +3, but ML was a better price for me than available at +1'):

Texas Tech(+130 ML) over Texas A&M (1*)
- - I'm too busy watching games and checking developments for any write-up. Instead I'll defer to a Texas-based poster to analyze the match-up, but the fact I'm on the moneyline rather than taking the points is a statement on which team I think is ready to launch their Big 12 season today.
