Only one week until the big event. Although I have been a horse player for many years and grew up at Santa Anita, I no longer live close enough to a track to do it avidly anymore. I only get to watch races on tv and follow on the net but go to the OTB every year for the BC. With this in mind I have gone through the pre-entries and have made some preliminary picks. I have not seen PP's yet and of course will make adjustments after they are available. My stategy in the BC is to play 4 horse tri boxes. It seems way to difficult to pick one winner in most of these wide open races. I would love to hear feed back from you guys about horses I've included that may be over-rated or ones that I should take another look at.

Seems almost the easiest but not much payoff

TY for the reply Valueist. I hadn't heard about Azeri. Physical problem? As I said in my original post what I'm really trying to do is find 4 horses with a decent shot in tri-boxes. Do you think Aldebaren would not fit in that catagory even at a small price? Look forward to your input as the week goes along.

haven't seen the entries yet.a couple that have impressed me in recent races are halfbridled and storming home.probably no prices on those two though.don't have any stat's to back it up but the east coast shippers rarely run well first out on the dirt out west.

I'm not sure I'm throwing Aldebaran out. 6f isn't his best distance but he is very good and his trainer is red hot this year.

Revisions

Revisions

Revisions to original plays after fields were drawn. 4 horse tri boxes
Distaff: Sightseek, Got Koko, Lady Tak, Take Charge Lady
Juv Fillies: Halfbridled, Class Above, Society Selection, Ashado
Sprint: Aldebaren, Shake You Down, Valid Video, Midas Eyes
Mile: Designed For Luck, Six Perfections, Sarafan, Irish Warrior
F & M Turf: Tates Creek, Heat haze, Musical Chimes, Voodoo Dancer
Juv: Cuvee, Chapel Royal, Tiger Hunt, Siphonizer
Turf: Sulamani, High Chaparrel, Storming Home, Johar
Classic: Medaglia D'Oro, Perfect Drift, Volponi, Congaree

These are not necessarily in order of preference.

I think my strongest play is Tates Creek

Good luck with whatever ya'all play. Should be some great races.

Will replace Falbrev with Sulamani after more review. Just think although Falbrev is a fine horse, the1 1/2 and no NA preps may be too much to overcome.

I am heading for Canterbury this afternoon, gonna be out of town on Race day. They will be taking bets on the racing starting at noon today.

Haven't finished capping yet (like to do that sitting in the Simulcast Room also need to talk to a couple of the Card Dealers I know who are major cappers).

Still, some early leans/plays. First horse listed is current fave of mine.

Distaff:
Got KoKo: home course (really like this one at 2 - 1)
also: Elloluv, Sightseek

Juvinile Fillies:
Halfbridled (despite outside post)
Victory USA

MILE:
Sarafan
Peace Rules
Touch of Yhe Blues

Sprint:
POSSE (definate play..speed horse gets great jockey)
Aldebaran
Yankee Gentleman

Filly & Mare Turf:
Musical Chimes
Islington
Tates Creek

Juvenile: (Don't like this one much)
Consecrate (Baffert)
Chapel Royal
Cuvee

Turf:
Storming Home
High Chapparal
Balto Star

Classic: This could be a wide open race
Ten Most Wanted
Congaree
Funny Cide
Medaglia d'Oro(I will leave him out since he cost me big in the Derby two years ago!)

Anyway, I always seem to make a little cash on this day and, of course, really enjoy watching the races!

GL to all....If I get a chance, I'll post final wagers this evening before I slip out of town!

Brick,

Good luck......Falbrav has a massive reputation over here in the UK, and the trainer describes it as the best horse in the world.

Looking forward to a great meeting!

Canterbury isn't shut down, is it? I throught it was thriving now with the bigger purses from the poker room? I grew up in that area and I'm pretty sure they had a live racing season last summer.

Of course I made some last minute changes. One helped me hit for a $343 tri and the other ( taking out Falbrev) cost me $420. Over all +$150 and a lot of fun. Hope you all had some winners. Wish I'd have seen your post before I left Crooky.
