Online horse racing betting giant Bodog.com announced today a record number of unique proposition wagers for the 138th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday at Belmont Park with a field of unknowns chasing the $1-million purse.
"Without the injured Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro and Preakness winner Bernardini, whose team chose to pass on the Belmont, just about any horse can w?n the race," says Calvin Ayre, Founder and CEO of Bodog.com. "With so many contenders, betting action is being spread across the board and we anticipate one exciting race that offers plenty of value to bettors."
Without a prohibitive favorite as we?ve seen in past years, several horses in the field of 12 will attract bettors. That could create heftier-than-usual payouts for the 1.5-mile race that?s often called "the test of a champion".
Odds to w?n the 138th running of the Belmont Stakes:
Bluegrass Cat: 4/1
Bob and John: 11/2
Deputy Glitters: 15/1
Double Galore: 35/1
Hemingway?s Key: 15/1
High Finance: 10/1
Jazil: 15/2
Oh So Awesome: 18/1
Platinum Couple: 35/1
Sacred Light: 15/1
Steppenwolfer: 7/2
Sunriver: 4/1
Bodog.com?s introduction of its enhanced online horse racing software and accompanying payout structure, which pays out per wager instead of dollar amount, has ensured a profitable racing season for many Bodog.com customers. One bettor recently walked away with $29,919.50 for her $1 Superfecta bet.
In May, Bodog.com announced an exclusive partnership with the Brother Derek racing team, which brought the Bodog.com brand to the Kentucky Derby. This partnership was a first of its kind. For the Preakness Stakes, Bodog.com sponsored five jockeys, each of whom sported Bodog-branded racing uniforms throughout the day of races at Pimlico Racecourse.
An example of one of Bodog.com?s more popular proposition wagers offered on this year?s Belmont Stakes is:
2006 Belmont Stakes - Will the Belmont Stakes attendance be 56,000 or higher?
Yes -120
No -120
