The feeling at the Point is the Air Force Acad. is a country club. This is no rivalry. It's for the CIC[commander in chief} trophy.AF feels all they do is kick Navy and Army's ass every year and still get no respect.Navy lives to beat Army and vice versa.AF is west of the Mississippi so who cares.AF has the little brother syndrome screaming for respect.
But this week a writer from our local paper and a close and personnel friend of mine wrote an article about the reasons why AF football is so sucessful and Army and Navy are a combined 5-53 since the yr 2000.
Of course Army and Navy have always said the standards are lower for the "flyboys".So yest. and today both the Army AD and press are doing damage control.
The standards,SAT scores, entrance exams, etc have been the talk.
But DeBerry also was questioned about it.Everytime he is sucessful on the field he has to defend his program.Well he's mad today. He's heard it over and over.Deberry cannot compete with the Army-Navy tradition. But he can kick their asses between the lines.
Ed Warinner was the Off. Line coach at Army.Ran the wishbone under Sutton for yrs. When Berry arrived 3 yrs ago he fired Ed because he was going to a passing attack.Several coaches tried to talk to Berry about that type of offense but Berry fired all of Suttons staff.Made a lot of comments about how he could win here at the Point.Warinner has been the Off Line coach at AF the past 3 yrs.
Berry is about to be bounced after 2 more games.Yes,Ed might get the job.
BeBerry is pretty classy. He always empties his bench out trying not to run it up.But I have a feeling tomr he runs it up a little.Just enough to cover the 17 pts.The line has really dropped.
It's a 3.00 game. But the Hudson valley's weather forecast is for a beautiful day in the low 60's and dropping down to the 50's.
Will come back tomr. and break down the game.
Just thought some of this info might be intresting.
Tomr. I'll explain why I like DeBerry over Berry.
