The feeling at the Point is the Air Force Acad. is a country club. This is no rivalry. It's for the CIC[commander in chief} trophy.AF feels all they do is kick Navy and Army's ass every year and still get no respect.Navy lives to beat Army and vice versa.AF is west of the Mississippi so who cares.AF has the little brother syndrome screaming for respect.
But this week a writer from our local paper and a close and personnel friend of mine wrote an article about the reasons why AF football is so sucessful and Army and Navy are a combined 5-53 since the yr 2000.
Of course Army and Navy have always said the standards are lower for the "flyboys".So yest. and today both the Army AD and press are doing damage control.
The standards,SAT scores, entrance exams, etc have been the talk.
But DeBerry also was questioned about it.Everytime he is sucessful on the field he has to defend his program.Well he's mad today. He's heard it over and over.Deberry cannot compete with the Army-Navy tradition. But he can kick their asses between the lines.
Ed Warinner was the Off. Line coach at Army.Ran the wishbone under Sutton for yrs. When Berry arrived 3 yrs ago he fired Ed because he was going to a passing attack.Several coaches tried to talk to Berry about that type of offense but Berry fired all of Suttons staff.Made a lot of comments about how he could win here at the Point.Warinner has been the Off Line coach at AF the past 3 yrs.
Berry is about to be bounced after 2 more games.Yes,Ed might get the job.
BeBerry is pretty classy. He always empties his bench out trying not to run it up.But I have a feeling tomr he runs it up a little.Just enough to cover the 17 pts.The line has really dropped.
It's a 3.00 game. But the Hudson valley's weather forecast is for a beautiful day in the low 60's and dropping down to the 50's.
Will come back tomr. and break down the game.
Just thought some of this info might be intresting.
Tomr. I'll explain why I like DeBerry over Berry.

"the bunker"
take the over

take the over

army gets qb nevells back tomorrow, their offense is much improved and they throw quite a bit(see air force vs wyoming)....their defense is a sieve....if army gets 20,an easy cover...they have scored 24,27,42 and 26 in their last 4 games....the beautiful weather should make for optimum scoring conditions...no opinion on the spread....but,like the over....g.l.

The line is now back up to AF -18.
Army has played better the past 4 weeks. They just can't put it together. They finally find an offense and the defense folds.I'm not sure vs Air Force they can put it together.
Armys offense gets Nevels back at Qb.he won the job but has had hamstring problems since day 1.He pulled his "string" a few weeks ago running out on the field in the pre-game ceremony. His totals this yr are 16-28-2-146.He is dangerous because he can run 22-113.Him starting today should give the cadets a boost. But he is so fragile.Dahman the frosh backup is way to inconsistent. He looks great sometimes but is way over his head.He has trouble "reading defenses."His ass is so skinny and is built like a No 2 pencil.
Armys defense is the key to this game. They cannot stop anyone on 3rd down.Against an AF running attack I see that being a problem.AF's running game is ranked 2nd in the country.Armys rushing defense is at the bottom.
Lyr Armys defense did a great job stopping the rushing attack. They held Palmer to 31 yds and Boyea to 28 yds. They lost by 10 out in Colorado.
I think today AF will be sucessful running the new"bone attack".They are using more double option then triple using quick sweeps.Harridge will definatly put the ball in the air when he see's 8 man fronts.
This is not a strong play because Army could cover this game.
It's senior day It's ther final home game at Michie. This senior class has had only 6 wins in 4yrs at home.[6-15]
The tradition of the last game has always been starting all your seniors.Berry is not doing that.He feels he could be down 7-0 before he subs.
Armys special teams are terrible. The punting coverage team is one of the worst in the nation. They cannot tackle anyone.I see AF just winning by a couple over the line.To close to make it a strong play.
On paper it looks like a blowout. But with the sun setting in a late afternoon game, with the fall leaves colors, the mighty Hudson river in the backround, corp marching, skydivers delivering the ball at the 50,and the Corp chanting, cannons booming and the Mule on the sidelines, the ghosts of Patton,Lee,Grant,..........Army will still lose.Hopefully by 18 pts or more.

Guys I can't get an over-under.But if you can its a over game. What a day today. Weather is beautiful.I had tickets but have to give them up.My HS is playing in the sectional finals and my best friend is having a surprise 50th birthday party. All 3 events are at the same time,3.00pm.
Will be back later with some real picks...GL

Luv play-strong
Pitt -16 over Temple
Pitt is loaded on both sides of the ball.I know its coming off a great win and the following week is the big game so the Owls can become that forgotten game. But Harris is some coach. No way he lets his kids think of next weeks game vs Miami.
They beat temple lyr 33-7 away.
Temple offense will have trouble running the ball.Sharps is tough but if he is stopped the Owls are in for a long day.
Pitt offense with 6'3 Qb Rutherford and a pair of WR's that are 6'3 and 6'4 in Fitzgerald and Slade will cause havoc with temple defense.
Like this game big time. It's a luv play for me.

Also will play the following

NC St +6.5 over maryland-everyone jumped off the ship.Think "pack" could win outright here

TCU -13 over Tulane-really liked this game big time but Wave offense scared me off a big play.TCU defense will be tested today with Losman and Moore. But Tulane outside on grass had problems with EC and Memphis.TCU defense is outstanding.Think TCU wins and covers.Tulane defense has given up 51 to navy,52 to UL Monroe, and 49 to UT.

Kentucky +5 over LSU..
Cats have to much firepower. Will keep it close and could win outright.

Wash St -3.5 over oregon
Think they win this by double digits.

Virginia +15.5 over Penn St
UVA has been playing tough.Thats way to many pts.

Vir Tech -10 over the Cuse
Cuse is getting ready for b-ball season.Blowout in the dome

Playing North Texas,Colorado,Houston and Minnesota for small plays.
