I'm not sure any of the casinos on the strip can be classified as small other than the Casino Royale which serves a purpose but, is not a destination.

Probably would have gone with O'Sheas for a fun atmosphere but, it's gone too.

Plenty of great options off-strip if that is where you want to look.

I was thinking the same thing about Casino Royale. Are they closing Imperial Palace? That might qualify as small compared to others and and still has that atmosphere in casino.

I think the IP is open but, it is being rebranded as the "D" and they are doing alot of upgrades.

This is a great location but, the rooms were in such poor shape that we would never stay there anymore. In fact, Harrahs has not re-invested in any of their properties in the past 5-7 years and they are selling some (such as STL) to finance the Linq project.

IP used to be a good place to hangout as the sportsbook was huge, they had a large selection of wager types and there were many gaming options on the floor...a fun atmosphere and great outfits on the waitresses.

I would have to get a current report from someone I trusted to consider stopping by there now.

I liked drinking in that bar that surrounds the sportsbook on a Saturday afternoon. Tons of TVs and good deals on beers. Only issue is there was always at least one dick behind the counter in sportsbook. One of the last places where they manually wirte the lines on wall.

Thanks hoops...the D is downtown (used to be Fitzgeralds).

That was a good bar next to the sportsbook. I once hit a royal there on video poker when I was also watching Oregon cover versus USC for a winner.

They had that section next to the bar with big chairs and big TV's. Used to hang out there and go to Burger Palace (right next to it) for food.

They used ot open up the showroom, on the same floor, for NFL games and had a pretty good assortment of food available with comfortable seating.

Deadeye...Off strip, I like the Gold Coast, Palms and SouthPoint...all for different reasons. Gold Coast and Palms are right across from each other for easy access.

If you're looking for something specific, I'm sure posters can give you some advice.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Think

Think

the days of solid "small strip casinos" are finally over.
Goliath has won.

Lots of good "near strip" available....Ellis Island one street east of strip. Gold coast, Orleans, easy to get to.

Always fun to hit downtown, El Cortez my fav.

On the other end of the spectrum Encore is a very small casino. Depending on what you are looking for it might fit the bill.

We usually stay at the Nugget but I spend most of my time at The El Cortez. I've run into many interesting & amusing locals sitting in the sportsbook. My 1st trip to Las Vegas in 1968 I lost my little bank roll at the El Cortez. Great place !

You might check out The Flamingo the strip. In a really good location too.
