Hilton is nice but don't expect friendly service.

You can be a $5K on a game and only get 1 drink unless you play more tickets, yet a guy playing $5 parlay after parlay can drink until he pukes.

I have seen this in person twice just not for $5K. I had $200 on a game and another time my buddy had over $200 riding on a game.
Both times the waitresses asked to see our tickets and said we had not bet in close to an hour and tried to charge for the drinks.
Pathetic customer service.

On the course!
I just don't get the bitch you guys have about the "free drinks"?

You think just because you plopped a couple hundred down on a game, you should be able to sit with your feet up and put down drinks for three hours??? :mj07:

You put $200 down, and the guy on the other couch put $200 on the other team. The book stands to make $20 between the two of you over the next three hours, AND now they should toss that back to you two clowns in the form of drinks????

:00hour :mj06: :toast:

Oh, happy day!

Oh, happy day!

The reasoning is simple. It is called customer service.
An old lady playing the penny slots can get free drinks all day long. How many pennies does she have to play to lose $20.

I have been in MANY other books and never have any questioned how much I am wagering once you tip them and they see you are there to stay.

Also I don't give a damn what the guy on the other couch stands to win or lose. They stand to win $220 off me so you would think a couple of watered down drinks with tip are not much to ask for.
Also we had other tickets, problem was we were not just running up to the window every 10 minutes.

completely agree!

a friend is a sportsbook manager at the Bellagio, is not shocked when guys bring in their hard earned money, get drunk, then lay all their money on the counter..:nooo:

he says the 'pros' (the guys most successful at sports betting) come in sober, place their bets then leave..

I am not even talking about getting drunk. We were getting about 1 drink every 45 minutes to an hour.

The point is I am sitting there with a few hundred riding and possibly stressing out a game.
I don't need any added stress from some rude ass bimbo waitress who takes her job way to serious.

Just saying don't expect any quality customer service at Hilton.

i hear you... all books do drinks differently. most of the waitresses are instructed to ask for tickets etc. (it does not make sense)

but you learn which casinos give out drinks freely and which do not.

the bread and butter for all casinos are slots.

besides, some cocktail waitresses are just rude..:0008

Include the info you can on why you think they are the best.

A few years ago I placed a $1500 bet on the SD/ NE playoff game at the Venetian & they gave me coupons for 4 drinks as long as I had the drinks at the bar right near the sportsbook....& after finishing those 4, the bartender poured me 2 more before I even put any money on the bar. That is why if I had a choice, I would try to hang out at the Venetian sportsbook.

I'm not much of a drinker but I can't argue with AR. I was at the Venetian a couple of years ago betting on the ponies and sports. They served me free drinks constantly for several hours until I left.

And that's why you don't get to drink all game long on one lousy ticket. They don't give a damn about your measly, small assed bet. You're not much of a customer.

You sound like the guy who figures because he lost $100 playing craps, he should get a free room for the week.

Too many people think the casino is a fucking piggy bank they can tip upside down and shake when they want to eat, drink, have a room, see show, etc. "Why should I pay for anything????.....This is a casino!"

Here's an idea: Next time, bet $150 on the game, get the free drink, and when it's gone, you have 50 bones to spend on more drinks!

Wow....tough room:scared

And for what it worth, I don't drink alcohol so I could give two fucks if a sportsbook gives me free drinks or not.

Every gambler looks for something different at a sportsbook. That is why I say the Hilton is the best. They are "old school" and actually like sports gamblers. But I guess if I drank alcohol I'd hate the Hilton:shrug:

Also, at the Hilton they will actually put up lines if you ask em. No other book does this. I asked em to put up some tennis matches once, and the guy told me come back in 2 hours. 2 hours later the lines were up. That shit would never happen at any other Nevada sportsbook.

Bottom line, I look at a sportsbook for variety of odds and betting options. In that case, nothing comes close to the Hilton.

Guess to each their own:shrug:

And that's a great reason to use them. But I get so tired of everyone who thinks Vegas "owes" them something because it's VEGAS!

Tell me.....take the wife and two kids to the House of Mouse for 5 days, and it will cost you 3-5 grand EASY! Has anyone ever asked Mickey for a free room? How about a break on that $140 lunch of burgers and fries? No! You pay it, bitch, and say, "That's the price of admission!" (I don't remember free valet parking, either!)

But in Vegas, for every dollar you spend, you want 2 bucks back. :mj07:

Actually, I think sportsbooks are doing themselves a HUGE disservice by being stingy with drinks. They want their patrons liquored up so they can make bad decisions, so why not hook people up in the sportsbook?

As has already been mentioned, you can get shitfaced off of free drinks for a few bucks if you play the slots, but you bet hundreds, possibly thousands on a sporting event, and it's like pulling teeth to get drinks? Why? I'm being serious here... why? How does it behoove the sportsbooks to put the clamps down on drinks when it comes to sports bettors? Is it because they feel like you've already put your money in, so you're not going to be betting anymore? Even if that's true, I'm sure most of those bettors will gamble in other areas of the casino after the game is over.

That's a flawed analogy because Vegas DOES give free rooms, free drinks, etc. Kind of like how you can barter on price at a garage sale, but see how far you get when you try to get the cashier at the local grocery store to knock 50% off that loaf of bread. :142smilie People have a sense of entitlement when it comes to Vegas because Vegas welcomes it. If Vegas doesn't want people to have that attitude, they shouldn't pass out comps like they're Tic-Tacs.

Trust me, if Disneyland gave out free rooms, or discounted rooms, people would be asking for that shit left and right. They would want a better deal or a better room with a view, etc. Most people are tightasses and want to feel like they're getting the best deal possible -- it's just their nature.

You've answered your own question.

I did? :mj03: So the casinos are more concerned with taking the money of people who are playing with change than they are the people who are shelling out hundies on games? Seems like their priorities are a little out of whack if that's the case.

LOL. I left off part of your quote!

Is it because they feel like you've already put your money in, so you're not going to be betting anymore?

That is the major part of it. They want you to gamble! Let me put it to you like this:

If you put $500 through a slot machine, the casino KNOWS you are risking that $500. If you bet $500 on team "A", you could easily have bet $500 on team "B", too. They have action all over the board on these games, and make a very small % on them. You ask any casino guys, and they will tell you, to a man........they would just as soon get rid of the sportsbook.

Now, with the handle being small there, compaired to the slots, you can bet they are far more willing to hand over free drinks on the slots than on the race bets.

Slots still covet close to 70% of the money taken in by the casino. Table games close to 30%. That doesn't leave much room! It should be easy to see where the freebies go from there......

If you're not getting a drink in the book.....you just might wander over to the machines and play/drink!
