So far have money on ...

St. Joseph's at 20-1 I think is a great wager..

Mississippi St. at 50-1 is a great longshot

Kansas at 15-1 a solid wager and..

Pitt at 21-1 another solid wager..

Thoughts??...this is the time you usually get your best odds at a tourney winner..

St Joes will have played what, 1 real opponent, Gonzaga, at home, first game of the year, with Zags travelling cross-country, before the tourney? I see that team losing in a 1/8 2/7 game. You have to be tested some and the A-14, or 11, or however many teams are in that league now, just doesnt cut it.

I'm pretty up in the air with Kansas myself but at 15-1 I think they can string 6 games in a row with Miles and Simeon...As for St'Joes I know they haven't been too tested yet but that is no fault of their own...I think when people get a good look at their back court they will be surprised, it's one of the best ..

Theres numerous teams that have a shot as a outsider, Saint Joes is the real deal and the backcourt will be tough to stop, also their defense is excellent. Another team that I like to possibly go far is Oklahoma State.

cant see any value at 20/1 in st.joes. 20/1 shots are normally reserved for power conference teams who arent 1st/2nd in their conference, but still deep and capable of a run.

st.joes is a nice team and their guards are excellent. but they have just as good a shot as being gone on the first weekend as they do making it to the elite 8.

i look at their schedule and see TWO good wins. their win vs gonzaga (which they were fortunate to be playing the zags when turiaf wasnt 100%) and xavier. regardless of what xaviers record is, thats a good win for joes.

joes will probably be tested just twice more this season (at rhode island and at villanova). maybe they go undefeated. but there is no way an a-10 team like st.joes is going to win the tourney.

that might offend some, but theyre really not much different than a kent state from a few years ago. awesome guard play, great veteran leadership. but not enough of an inside game to win. joes has zero inside game and rebounding.

a-10 has the same shot of winning the tourney as a mac team does. none.

mississippi state is a solid longshot (like you said) and i think theres value there in kansas (bite your tongue sun tzu). but the worst thing for joes to do would be to go into the tourney undefeated. because theres no way they can win in the tourney by jacking 3s and not getting much inside

gonzaga has a MUCH MUCH better chance of going deeper into the tourney than st.joes. if they matched up again today, zags would definitely win. but even the zags are no more than elite 8 with outside final 4 chance. but its still too early to expect a st.joes/gonzaga to pull it off.

I could see an argument that there is value in kansas, but I also "know" they arent going to win so it is throwing away money. I honestly think this year more than ever it will be matchups. Teams like Puke, UNC, Zona could go all the way but if they play the wrong teams their depth issues will kill them.

the lack of respect that sju is receiving is completely un warranted. they have no shot at losing in the first round. not one.this team will be the popular #1 seed to go down on ncaa pools. big mistake. how many posters on this board have seen this team play? how bout live? jameer nelson is the best player in the nation and does not know how to lose. this teams def. is incredible. as for losing last year, delonte west was injured and at half-speed. not so this year. guard play wins in ncaa tourney. sju has the best backcourt in the nation. btw, being a villanova fan, i hate sju. but this team is legit top 3. you'll see.
