Bet the 136th Kentucky Derby at betED.com
The 136th running of the Kentucky Derby ? the first jewel in horse racing's Triple Crown ? goes Saturday at Churchill Downs.
betED.com has Lookin At Lucky as a +400 moneyline favorite in Kentucky Derby Odds to win the $2 million Run for the Roses.
Lookin at Lucky, trained by three-time Derby winner Bob Baffert, may be the favorite in the 1 1/4-mile race, but it got an unfavorable starting position as the Eclipse Award winner drew the No. 1 post. The rail post is considered a disadvantage because when the horses go into the first turn they tend to bunch together inside.
Lookin at Lucky, which has won six of eight career starts and was named the champion 2-year-old of 2009, will be ridden by Garrett Gomez.
The 2010 Kentucky Derby will have a full field of 20 three-year-olds, 19 colts or geldings and one filly.
Lookin at Lucky became the favorite when leading contender Eskendereya was scratched from the race after injuring its left front leg.
Sidneys Candy is next at +750 while Awesome Act rounds out the top three favorites at +900.
Sidney's Candy, trained by John Sadler and ridden by Joe Talamo, won the Santa Anita Derby. It will start from the No. 20 post. Owned by the Sid and Jenny Craig Trust, Sidney's Candy is the winner of four of six lifetime starts and has career earnings of $673,560.
Awesome Act, trained by British-based Jeremy Noseda, won the Gotham Stakes, a Grade III prep race at Aqueduct.
It could be a wet Run for the Roses as the forecast is calling for a 20 percent chance of rain on Friday and 40 percent on Saturday.
Post-time for the Kentucky Derby is 6:10 pm ET on NBC.
