buddy just got this message.

"We regret to inform you that due to recent legal developments, we no longer accept customers who are resident in the United States of America. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you wish to withdraw your funds, please contact us and one of our highly trained customer service team will be available to help. Please note, any unsettled sports bets will be settled in the normal way."

contest will continue per usual,

if a usa resident wins the contest we will setup another sportsbook to deposit the winnings into.

if a non-usa resident player (which we have entered btw) wins the contest then everything will be per normal.

What if I haven't rolled over my initial deposit? If I withdraw my money will this disqualify me from the contest?

well i feel slightly better about this stuff after talking to the outfits I bet with....wsex and pokerstars.......both dont seem like they will do anything, and wsex of course has the can-do spirit from jay cohens legal battle so they are not intimidated, believe me they will find ways around this anyway, in case though does anyone know if one can open a canadian-based bank account say in toronto if you live in the usa, do you have to open it in person or can you do it online or phone etc? that would essentially solve all the problems should we all get restricted from making easy transfers to/from offshores, just to keep in back of mind should be needed, everyone should call bill frist and leave some choice words although i dont want to bother his secretaries im sure you cant get near that fake, pandering, bible-thumper, him and jim leach just get my blood boiling

if you are a usa citizen and they are closing your account the rollover requirement for the contest will be waived and you are still entered in the contest.

Excuse me while I go on a little rant here.

Bet365 must be trying to cover their butts by closing out americans. I SAY WHY.
First Thing is the bill has not been signed as of yet and probably will not be for over a month.
I have read 2 articles stating that once it is signed that it still won't become a law for almost 9 months.

Second and most important. It appears this bill has nothing to do with internet gambling by americans. The bill simply forces banking and CC institutions from allowing payments to and from gaming institutions.

This bill does not change anything else in the gambling world. It is unknown what will become of Neteller since they are not a gambling institution.
Other deposit methods still remain useable(FedEx,Western Union).

The gambling world will go on, so why is Bet365 taking this step back so early in the process.

Maybe an administrato can answer this?
Thanks
This is just my observation and opinion. I prefer Bet365,but they are forcing me to go elsewhere for no reason.

statement from bet365:

Over 96% of bet365?s business is from customers outside of the US and, as such, the decision will not have a material impact on the group?s financial performance or continued growth. However, bet365 regret any inconvenience that this decision may cause and strongly retain the view that proper regulation rather than prohibition is the right way forward in respect of the gambling industry.

The 96% number sounds like a farse to me based on the way all the stocks are crashing.

Again, my point is that the bill is only regulating the way payments are made to and from these instititutions. Bet365 simply has to restict certain payment types to continue to operate in a legal manner.

This bill has little strength in my opinion. CC companies are already self enforcing this law.
Raise your hand if you have tried to use a CC to fund an account and been denied. Bank institutions are in an uproar over this bill stating they can't possibly be expected to monitor that many transactions.

Seems like mostly the British/European companies that are closing out the US. They probably rely less on US customers.

The Carib/Costa Rica etc. ones aren't closing, they depend on Americans.

I can see how for the time being bet365 and others don't want to deal with it, but wouldn't be surprised if they changed that policy down the road.
