Vancouver Canucks @ St. Louis Blues
Odds : Canucks -130
The Vancouver Canucks haven't had the start to the season they were hoping for and with the Winter Olympics approaching, they better figure out their road problems or they are going to be in trouble.
The Canucks are 23-16-1 this year after suffering their first overtime loss last game in Phoenix. While the Canucks are 16-6-0 at home, they are a meager 7-10-1 on the road this year, which is a big concern.
With the 2010 Winter Olympics being held in Vancouver, the Canucks will be forced out of town. They'll be travelling on a 14-game road trip. They will be on the road for the entire month of February and the first 10 days in March, which is going to be one heck of a stretch.
They are currently tied for eighth in the Western Conference and if they continue to play this way on the road, they will be on the outside of the playoffs looking in during mid-March.
The Canucks get a softball on Thursday and they'll have to take advantage.
The St. Louis Blues have been miserable all year - particularly at home - and are mired in a three-game losing streak. The Blues are just 6-13-2 at home this year and the Canucks have to take advantage.
San Jose Sharks @ Phoenix Coyotes
Odds: Sharks -115
The San Jose Sharks had a relatively easy time winning the Pacific division last year but now they have company.
The Sharks have a slim lead over the surprising Phoenix Coyotes in the
Pacific and they'll try to cool them down when they visit on Thursday.
It might be hard to believe but the Coyotes extended their home-winning
streak to 10 games on Tuesday night with a 3-2 shootout win over the
Vancouver Canucks.
At 25-13-3, the Coyotes have been one of the biggest surprises in the NHL
this year, which doesn't bode so well for Wayne Gretzky's coaching
abilities. The Coyotes were one of the worst teams in the league last year
under the tutelage of Gretzky but with Dave Tippett behind the bench now the
Coyotes are a much better team.
The Coyotes are looking for some revenge on the Sharks after losing at the
Shark Tank on Monday in a shootout.
Expect another closely contested game but this time with the Coyotes coming
out on top.
