Although the Heisman Trophy ceremony is taking place Saturday night from
the Yale Club in New York, the race to win the Heisman Trophy remains
wide-open. By underperforming in his final game the leading candidate for
the award, Oklahoma's Jason White, may not longer be a sure thing. Taking
the impression White's performance in the Big 12 Championship Game may have
had on voters, BetWWTS.com today announced updated odds on who will win the
2003 Heisman Trophy.

A leading offshore gaming company for over 10 years, BetWWTS.com has
created individual odds on five of the best players in college football.
Despite his performance in the Big 12 Championship Game, Jason White remains
the odds-on favorite to win the award at 1/3 odds - slightly longer odds
than last week when White was listed at 1/6. White's performance and
Oklahoma's loss not only affected his odds, but the odds of the other
serious contenders according to BetWWTS.com. Pittsburgh's outstanding
sophomore receiver, Larry Fitzgerald appears to have gained ground on White
and is now listed at 11/4 odds, down from 7/2 last week.

The odds on Mississippi quarterback Eli Manning winning the award has also
dropped from 10/1 to 6/1 and NC State quarterback Philip Rivers has seen his
odds go from 20/1 last week to 16/1 this week. Michigan's dominating
halfback Chris Perry remains at 20/1 odds. All other players not listed with
individual odds are included in "The Field" listed at 20/1.

Great another HORRIBLE Heisman winner...

I was hoping they might say "Forget it, there is nobody worthy to win the award this year." But no, we're going to have either...

A QB with big numbers who is not even the best player on his team and performed horribly in the biggest game of the season.

A WR with great game and good numbers who made 3 catches for 26 yards in what was supposed to be a "statement" game and is arguably only the 3rd or 4th best player at his position this year.

A RB with with non-Heisman numbers who got shut down by Oregon.

A QB with decent numbers trading on his family's name.

I wish the Heismman committee would just abstain this year...it has to be the weakest field since Weinke or Wuerffel or Torretta or Crouch.

Scott I am sure you can do a better job; Whites numbers smoke Palmer's number and Perry will show just how horrible he is when he runs all over your weak ass Trojans

what exactly is wrong with jason white?

40tds, 8 INts and 3,700 yards passing, coompleting 64 percent of his passes.

Your boy carson palmer last year: Completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,639 yards and 32 tds with 10 ints.

I am also pretty sure that palmer lost 2 games last year, as opposed to the 1 game white lost. By your logic palmer was a VERY weak heisman winner.

Completely agreed wideopen; scott gots his panties in a wad due to the fact leinhart and williams arent going; I remember last year when Palmer laid an egg quite a few times and he still got it. By the way didn't White throw for 300 yards and complete over 50% of his passes. He did throw 2 picks but I am sure most qb's would take that game.

Carson Palmer faced the #1 Strength of Schedule, he put up his #'s against the best competition he could face! He also did not lay an egg at the end of the season and shined in the spotlight, USC vs ND was the most watched college football game last year and Palmer rose to the occasion! Please do not compare White with Palmer :nono:

actually, white's season isnt over despite what some people would have you believe. If white/oklahoma beat LSU he would have done better than palmer. Unless numbers are more important to you than winning. Fact is that palmer played in the defensless pac-10. Say what you want about the big 12, the pac 10 has always had some of the worst defenses in the nation.
