Is he another one of those quarterbacks who lucked into a great situation. Great line, good back, good recievers and a great defense? How would he do on Cleveland or someone like Oakland? You look at guys like Tim Couch who got drafted by and awful team just get overwelmed. Achilles Smith same thing. I wonder how they would have done if they were drafted by a superior team.

Good Call

Good Call

Being from around Cleveland, and knowing what Couch, and Dilfer, and now Frye are facing, you bring up a very good point.

I have to say, IMO, Big Ben is a very good quarterback. Now, this is coming from someone who can't stand the Steelers. fact is fact though, his numbers are imrpessive.

What if the Browns had the opprotunity to have Big Ben? I don't know if it would have made a difference. I don't believe, at least from Cleveland's stand point, that a single player could swing more that one or two games by themselves. Not enough to make a huge difference, especially in our conference.

I think he was fortunate to go to a team like the Steelers that has such a great supporting cast. The guy knows his football, no doubt, but it's always easier when you have guys like Ward to back you up.

Couch was a good quaterback. He didn't have anyone to give the ball too, and no Offensive line to give him any protection. It's the same problem Cleveland has delt with since 1999. Back then we complained we didn't want an expansion team because it would take 10 losing seasons before we had anything to work with. Well do the math, we still don't have a team worth a poop and it's been 7 years.

Anyone think the browns will be AFC champs in the next 3 years? I wouldn't bet on it. Even if we had Big Ben.

Cell its nice you see my point. I have been fighting this argument for years with Mcnabb in Philly. The defense carried him his whole carreer until Owens came to town. I have never in my life seen him beat a good team or play well against a good defense. I did like some of the things i saw out of him last Sunday. That is the first time. My point is if Mcnab was taken by Cincy he would have been out of the league now just like Achilles Smith. Cincy had nothing back than. With Ben i see a lot of stupid mistake. The superbowl he played might have been one of the poorest outings i have ever saw with any quarterback. But he can make mistakes like this because his team is so good and the league is so bad. I like to see him on Oakland. He wouldn't do anything there. He is blessed to be taking by the Steelers and this will give him a chance to grow. Lots of guys don't get this opportunity. Eli is getting the same thing. Cutler will to as well as the kid from USC but Young will have a horrible time with the Texanas.

HELL
This is a great arguement for multiple players, teams, and sports. The one that always comes to mind for me and to change sports, is Derek Jeter. Great player and love to watch him play, but how would he fair with say the Pirates? What about Bonds, put him the AL with the Yanks or Boston and he might of hit 100 HR's. Look back through history, Emmitt Smith, playing with a H of Fame QB, great offense line, great D, fullback, WR, and TE. VYoung might be horrible under his circumstances, does that mean his no good? This is a fun discussion, Big Ben has been fortunate to come into a good situation, but he will have to earn his status this year with marginal WR play outside of Ward and a question mark if Parker will be the RB to carry a load throughout the season.

Cleveland or Oakland could make Montana, Marino, Elway, or even Bart Starr look bad!
