4-0 with one more to go, so much for people calling it the Big Least, one more game to go and should have locked up the Best record in the 2006-2007 Bowl Season!

Hell, I hope it still doesnt get the respect it deserves. I like it better that way since we all but concluded here at MJ during the middle of the season that the Big East was worthless and doesnt deserve a BCS opportunity.

The Big East is below the majors

The Big East is below the majors

Talk about WVU, Rutgers and Louisville in the national championship picture was ridiculous at the beginning of the season.

Wins over Wake Forest (they would get destroyed by any of the major contenders this season), Kansas St. and Georgia Tech is not that impressive for bowl season.

Yes, that's great for the Big East. They have teams that are better than the average/good teams in the country. However, they are not in the discussion for the nat'l championship.

WVU is the most overrated team in the nation this year. Rutgers, great story, solid team, but c'mon. Louisville can't beat Rutgers to go to a nat'l championship game? Enough said.

The only team discussed here that could have a chance against Michigan is Louisville. Louisville would be able to throw on Mich, just like everyone else this year and their defense seems to be solid. But WVU and Rutgers would get destroyed by the Wolverines.

Now what would happen if these teams played Ohio State or USC...absolute destruction...:mj07:

Just the truth

Just the truth

I have respect for the big east as a good conference that can beat a lot of teams in the country. They just are not at the level of elite schools.

Sorry...

:nono:

Louisville is close, but still no Ohio State, USC, or Fla.

The Truth is----You don't just wake-up one day and be considered an elite football school, you have to build it. You also have to listen to critics bash your programs or conference while you build the programs into that elite staus you speak of.

So say what you will The Big East is here to stay and will continue to be a BCS conference. I expect to see even better results next season for the Big East and WVU.

It's the money, baby. Big East is still way too far behind the Big 5 conferences when it comes to football budgets.

What they really need to do is snag Notre Dame or Penn State. Then if WVU or Louisville can raise themselves up a bit, you could have something.

In my opinion the root of the problem is that college football is just not as big in the northeast. Heck, that's the same problem we have out here in the Pac-10.

At least you recognize that the big east doesn't have elite teams yet. Maybe in 2-3 years they will. Louisville is close, but the rest are average in a weak conference at this point.

How many elite schools are there, and what defines them as elite in your opinion. Im sure we can agree on many of those so called elite teams.

Everyone post your top 20 elite list and post it, Then we can compare the lists and why they deserve to be on it.

Im on the fence with some of my picks, an arguement could be made for Wis and Iowa but it depends on the definition of elite if Boise st qualifies yet. I think they could play with anyone this season.

Cardiac,

They've been good for a couple of years. Last year not as good (got whipped at Georgia) but they have had these solid teams for 3-5 years.

By the way.....UCLA???????

WAC Baby

WAC Baby

I think the WAC is the most under rated conference in the whole NCAA. They went 3-1 in bowls with Nevada only losing by 1 point. Boise St showed the country how good the wac is. Boise State and Hawaii could aslo probably beat any team in teh Beast East this year! I'm not saying teh Big East stinks. I am saying that the top teams in teh WAC are that good!:toast:

Personally I think the Big East does get respect. I think they beat teams they are supposed to and lose to teams they are supposed to.

Yea, UCLA ?able but as soon as we get a definition of elite I can fix my list.

I will work on my definition and put it out when we don't have more important things to discuss like who do we like today and why.

After all we are here to beat the books 1st, and brag up our teams 2nd.
