I posyed this question awhile back and got not much reception so I'll try again.

I am planning on going to the big east Turnament this year. I would like to get a ticket for the whole tournament. My questions are:

1) What is the best way to get a ticket? Schools, ticketmaster, broker???

2) Does being a alumni of a school give you any advantage at getting tickets?

3) Has any here ever gone to Big east Tournament? Any suggestions would be great.

I already have hotel and airflight paid for ( non refundable) go I am going. i would hate to get shut out of tickets and have to go the broker route.

Re: Big East Tournament

I have never been to the Big East tourney, but I have been to the ACC tourney more than a few times. Unless there is a huge difference in getting tickets between the two, I might be able to offer some advice.

As far as getting tickets, its always easiest to get tickets if you know alumni (the more they donate to the school the better).

If you dont know alumni, you can actually see the tournament without having tickets beforehand and without paying thru your ass for each game. Here is what we do for the ACC tournament.....

Buy a ticket for the first session, even if you have to pay a little extra to get in from scalpers. If you dont mind missing part of the first half, wait till right after the game starts to get tickets. Most people are looking to dump at that point, just have to be patient.

Now here is where it might be different with the Big East. With ACC fans, since the tournament is usually geographically located around Carolina, once a team loses, their fans are looking to dump their tickets and get the hell out. We have actually purchased tickets for the finals and semis for damn near half-face value and sometimes less. If you're lucky, some bitter losing fan will just give them away. So, after the first game, go to the losing section and look to purchase tickets from the fans coming out who are from the losing teams for the remainder of the tournament.

Once you have your tickets, you can always buy and sell to improve your seats. Two years ago I paid about $20 to watch Duke bean UNC by 30 in the finals of the 2000 ACC and watched the blowout from the 15th row center court. lol Not a good game, but we went down without tickets and had no trouble seeing the whole tourney without getting scalped.

Hope this helps.
