I have seen some good cappers run off this board because they do not conform to what other posters see as the proper way to post, especially in terms of records. I have followed BGH this year and watched people give him the business over posting his record and units.

I agree that W-L is useless in baseball, units is the only thing that counts. I had some time his am and ran a search on BGH and have compiled his record from ALL of his baseball posts this year. This may be different then BGH's numbers but I am only going by what was posted. I looked in other people threads where he replied and one's he started so this is a completed list of what has been posted on MJ's. Used closing lines and used action, not listed pitcher.

25 - 9 + 11.10 units

Favs 25-9 +11.10 units

sooner or later, that strategy of picking only favorites will catch up to him

the man's pocket!
this is why good cappers leave

this is why good cappers leave

No one wants to be called out or harassed for the way they post. To criticize someone for posting winners is RIDICULOUS. If you want to keep score do it yourself, no one is obligated to post the way YOU want them to. If you don't think someone's input is worth reading, move on, don't read it or use their picks but to harass them is not fair and ruins the site for all of us. Incubus, was there a purpose to your post, if so I can't seem to find it. Let's all keep this fun for each other. :) :D

no one is criticizing......this guy is picking winners and his legitimacy will be ENHANCED if he keeps a record in units.....the only reason we want to encourage him to keep units, is because he is successful, and will make it that much easier to follow him....

it is not "harassment" to try to encourage anyone to post units and explain the reasons for doing so....

Just my opinion, and this may have already been said, but if we are going to coat-tail somebody's plays, all we need is thier record. That person is risking his/her money with their picks, not ours. It is my fault if I follow someones plays and lose what took me forever to earn at $5.25/hr. When a person posts units, with their record, that is fantastic, for US. That means less homework for us if all we do is ride the wave of others. If BGH or anyone else is on a 157-9 streak, I will definitely give it a look, but before I bet my mortgage and the kid's tuition to Stanford, I will do my own homework. Posted plays are "Here is what I personally like for today" and not "I am the Sh*t, follow me and make millions tonight".(granted there have been some of those here in the past as well:D ) I hope no one thinks that I am preaching. I just really want to get to 75 posts so I can have a Texas Rangers Logo under my name;)

Good Luck to Everyone here, and for a good laugh or fade, check out the "Anything But Locks " section of the program. There will never be too much seriosness in there. We feel at ABL that Schtick is the way to keep life liveable.

here's how it is easier for everyone.....i have tried keeping records and gave up because it takes way too much time.....if everyone keeps their own legitimate record -- and posts it when posting picks, it is easier than for everyone to keep the record of everyone but himself....

no one is forced to keep records, but if you want to help and be helped, which is what this board is about -- you will keep your own legitimiate record in units......

if you want to be selfish and declare "why should i have to do this, or that or whatever", and are not concerned for legitimacy and only want to try to create your own fan club, then go about it however you want....

post your record and units if you want 1. legitimacy 2. to be help to everyone 3. to better enjoy the comraderie of this board

do not post your record if: 1.you only care about yourself 2. you have an attitude 3. you only are here to create a fan club 4. it is too much of an inconvenience

Freeze, I agree with you that records, units etc creates more legit capping skills. But there have been people here that have been very successful and have over 6000 posts who post in *'s and Big/Very big. Not too many doubt their success. They are some of the best I have seen here in the past 2 years as a lurker. This board IS about helping others, and helping yourself as well. People are going to have their reasons for however they do their betting. Your theory about keeping track of units/record is better over the long haul to be successful could not be MORE TRUE. I just don't want to see someone that is contributing in his own way leave because a couple of people gripe about the way he does business. Most of the posts that I have read on this are comments as opposed to b*tching. I will leave the matter alone because I am probably adding more fuel to a fire that is wanting to die down. I will try myself to give better records and keep you guys updated. I am bad about that and want to contribute positively.

Freeze, You are absolutely correct, really how hard is it to keep track of units as they relate to the money line as that is the true reflection of a Won Loss record...

no you are right....but i think big game hunter would like to contribute as best he can.....and if it helped for us for him to post his units, he would.....and most people for that matter....people just need to understand the reasoning for posting units -- and also that it is easier if everyone keeps accurate track of their own as opposed to everyone having to keep their own individual record of everybody.....this board should be about helping people as best we can and helping people avoid those of us (myself included) who aren't doing well right now.....this board shouldn't be about selfish attitudes

Off topic question for you Dr. Freeze:

Did you want to be the next 3rd Baseman for the KC Royals? I ask because you are less than a year younger than myself, and I am a huge Brett fan. I was born in MO, lived there till '83. Just curious. Good luck

While I agree that units are what matters in baseball and a record is pretty much meaningless, all of this bickering is starting to get a little old. How many times do people have to go through this. If BGH wanted to post his units, he would have done so. Obviously, calling him out and constantly pissing and moaning about the way he posts his record isn't going to make him change. He shouldn't have to if he doesn't want to. There are quite a few cappers here that don't post a won-loss record or units won or lost and they don't seem to come under such scrutiny like this. Read his thread or don't. I think it's pretty simple. It's always the same people complaining, too, if I might add that. Don't you have anything better to do?

Forget About it....

Forget About it....

Nice one Dragon.... Good Fellas is a classic.... Just wanted to say thanks to BGH.... I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to try and Help others... This has allways been a great site for people to share information.... There are some incredible cappers who post on this site.... There is nothing wrong with trying to give someone advice on how they post their picks as long as they do it in a kind way and let them know that its just suggested for reasons that will help others.... The Bottom line is you should do your own research and then use others as a tool to enhance your own picks... Lets just continue to work together and win some $$ .... Thanks again BGH.... Keep up the good work.... GLTA AM2kidz...

WHAT I FIND INCREDIBLE IS SOME PEOPLE WANT POSTERS, FURTHER ONES THAT ARE ACTUALLY WINNING, TO NOT ONLY TELL THEM WHAT TEAM TO PLAY. BUT TO DO THEIR MATHEMATICS FOR ALSO. UNBELIEVABLE.
BIG GAME, ITS ALMOST April 15th, WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED EVERYONE'S MATH COULD PLEASE COME OVER AND PREPARE MY TAXES. ALSO ITS ALMOST SPRING, THINK YOU COULD RAKE THE YARD & LAY DOWN SOME FERTILIZER. AFTER THAT MY GIRL HAS SOME FLOWERS SHE'D LIKE PUT IN.

THANKS

What the Hell is so hard for all of you to figure out........

Let 's See..

X is 50-25 and takes alot of favs ..Y is 40-35 but takes little chalk , what is the sum...

The bottom line is, are you picking winners that ultimately Increase your bank Roll or just sustaining it........

Win or lose, the units should be posted even if it is based just on 1u per play to give those who do follow an accurate assessment as to how following a particular poster would have realistically affected their bankroll giving a better insight on whether to follow a poster or not....How"s that for A Run On sentence:D........Have A Nice Day..:moon:

Let the damn subject die already. If he doesn't want to post units then so be it. My god, some of you want winners, & math to be done for you. Why not just grow up & go about your business!

Here are my final thoughts on this subject, just trying to clear the air not trying to stir anything up.

Just because someone has a record of 50-25 lets say, does not mean he is having a good year, for all we know he could be in the red in terms of units.

Then you could have another individual who has a losing record, yet be in the black with more + units than the individual who has a winning record playing high chalk lines.

That is what is trying to be asid in this post. People may be fooled by looking at an individuals record :nono:, that is not the way to go , look at the units. If one decides not to post their units, well that is their decision as well. Just hope no one is mislead by people's record.

Could cost you $ in the long run.

yep....george brett was my hero.....grew up in Kansas.....saw a couple Royals games.....notably saw the one against the Rangers when Dennis Leonard screwed up his arm.....didn't have much money when i was a kid and we just listened to the Royals games on the radio ever summer night.....fond memories.....

Time and Pro -- you can't suggest anything to some people....they pull off a big attitude complex and all you get is "go F__ing do it yourself you anal __hole" or something like that....some people only care about themselves and won't listen to any suggestions which may help others or even help themselves so that they can obtain better feedback.....
