my first pick posted here at the madjacks. i've been cold lately - hopefully putting up this play and reasoning will help me break out of my slump.
Oakland vs Houston
4.5 Innings Under 4 Runs
- Aside from the fact that neither of these teams have seen either pitcher there are a few other reasons I like this one:
Oakland vs righties: .246 avg, 4.4 runs per game
Houston vs lefties: .224 avg, 4.8 runs per game
Houston on road: 4 runs per game
Oswalt road era: 2.22
Mulder last 3: era 3.86
Oswalt last 3: era 3.27
Mulder has been bad at home but his last outing was strong in Tampa Bay and he only went 5.2 innings - pitch count shouldn't be an issue early on.
Both bullpens are suspect so the under on the game isn't such a great bet in my opinion - add the factors above to the "never before seen pitcher scenario" and I think neither team will get anything going until their second or third time around the order, making 4.5 inning line look even better.
Hope this reasoning helps some, I used to post quite a bit on another forum but never got much response so I quit - if people here appreciate the info it I will post more plays.
Good luck tonight
Mike.
