we have had 3 games so far and each game has produced a top candidate.
Joe Novak (N. Illinois).....team looked lost to say the least....game plan was....well was there a gameplan? Distant 3rd in my poll right now....his team was badly over matched and so was he in this contest...shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Mike Belotti (Oregon)......gets selected for allowing that Leaf kid to even take a snap in a real game. His game plan was on par with Northern's too....only difference is he comes from a BCS conference and has a lot more to work with as compared to Novak. He gets top nod right now given his conference affiliation and the fact that Rice was without their best QB.
Todd Graham (Rice)......where to begin with this guy. Team is getting blasted yet he still has his QB looking to the sidelines letting the play clock work down to zero before each snap of the ball....never heard of a hurry up or ready offense? Calls a TO when they had 4th and goal in the 4th quarter after about 20 seconds ran off of the clock from the previous play.....confused? Then the capper....doesn't know 8+8+8=24....scores a TD and kicks the extra point when down 24....that's fine if you concede the game.....but then he on-side kicks....even the announcers were amazed. Not having your starting QB gives you a pass and makes you #2 in my poll.....but you were close coach....nice job.
I know these are the chit bowls...but coaching mistakes and having your team ill-prepared is never justified. I'm hoping we have some great games coming up here with teams that look like they are ready to play. BTW, Charlie Weis definitely made this list last year in the Fiesta Bowl.....praying he has learned a lot from that lesson he got from tressel.
