I just saw a promotional package for Biker Boyz. If I was a teenager I'd see this movie for sure. On the contrary I don't know anyone who is looking forward to The Recruit. Al Pacino is starting to become old fast.

When OLY's line went up yesterday, estimated theater counts were 2500 for The Recruit and 1600 for Biker Boyz. Now has been revised to 2200 for The Recruit as I believe many studios realize there isn't much interest in this movie anymore.

Hard to believe Biker Boyz is +1/2 million +150 vs. The Recruit. Before I put a max bet on Biker Boyz does anyone have any contrary information?

Recruit

Recruit

The recruit looks like it will be better than expected. I think there will be a twist in the end and Big Al doesn't work for the CIA. Instead he is training operatives to manuver against the CIA. This will create a "special ending" buzz that will make more money at the box office.

Just a guess.

Perhaps but it seems like movies such as Biker Boyz always do so much better than expected. I recall no one thought Jackass had a chance against Ghost Ship but Jackass won hands down due to the teen crowd. And of course Drumline really surprised everyone in very few # of theaters. Truth is that teens and young adults make up the theater crowd far more than adults over the age of 30.

Recruit looks like a better movie, biker boyz looks pretty dumb, but I think it will make more $$ than recruit.

The Recruit has Colin Farrell in it. He's started getting noticed. and might get the "teen" crowd. But 17M is a lot for movies opening around this time of year.

The Recruit almost reminds me of "Spy Games" which was good. That was Redford and Brad Pitt as gov't agents. Different story, but intriguing. Recommended.

Also, Pacino is getting old, but he's doing some good roles that take advantage of it. His washed-up, passed-over, can't-get-ahead mobster in Donnie Brasco was one of his best roles ever. Highly recommended. That, and Goodfellas, were the best mob movies since Godfather II.

Insomnia was one of my few faves from last year. Great movie, and a good role for Pacino. Slow, but so well put together. Made you think. Not a wasted scene in the whole movie.

He seems to have gotten over the hamminess that characterized Heat, Carlitto's Way, and the HUGELY OVERRATED "Scent of a Woman". Hoo ah.
