I would say he probably pretends to not speak english so he dont have to talk much.
Someone told me one time that the best way for anyone to learn english is to watch cartoons on TV.
The words are mostly in simple form and its easy to understand the gist of a cartoon.
Well I did have to explain one bugs bunny cartoon to loopholes last week. Bugs can get deep sometimes.
